My sister got a job on a daytime soap set 2 years ago. Social intimidation soon pressured her into attending a ‘cast party’.
It was seriously weird- first they blacked up & filmed themselves rapping about “thug life” & “killing bangers back in the day”. There were strange bonding rituals, where group leaders would talk about “convocations for a new spiritual realm”. They would chant, cut open their veins and mix blood, urine & semen in a seemingly earnest “striving towards a new religion”.
Jax was the perfect fit for Brenda,he saw her at her weakest and lowest points and loved her anyway.Sonny only loved her when she was doing what he wanted her to do.Sonny ripped her to shreds every time he got a chance,Jax completed her.
Brenda got the best of both worlds, i think, the dark, brooding, mysterious "bad guy" in Sonny and the safety, respect, and white knight u know, Jax... no wonder it was great triangle. One has everything she wants, the other everything she needs,...then she's trying to grow up at the same time hoping that what she needs finally becomes what she wants too... yea, GH had a great thing happening there LOL
Totally agree. Jax and Brenda were boring and unbelievable IMO, because she always loved Sonny more. Everyone knew it. I never understood why you would want to be with someone who you knew didn't love you the way you loved them? Sonny and Brenda were IT, end of story. Jax was always second to Sonny.
I wouldn't say she loved him more, she just consider him a drug. Her relationship with Sonny was poisoned to her - she was always crying, never confident, could never be herself and she could never fit into his life. With Jax she had a man that was her friend and also her lover where she didn't feel that she couldn't be herself and more importantly they actually communicated and she became a confident and indpendent women because of that relationship
Its all in the intrepretation of the viewer. I never saw love of a lifetime in Jax and Brenda, friendship and love yes, but nothing to the degree of what S&B shared. Jax and Brenda, for me, were no where near as compelling and real as S&B were. S&J wars will go on forever over who should be with Brenda. It was the best triangle in soap opera history. We all like who we like and J&B never did it for me.
@mwerner1020 you're right, this has to be one of the best triangles in soap or even tv history. part of the reason is because I think there is a very capable argument for both couples. Im not gonna lie, I love Sonny & Brenda, but I also love looking Jax and BRenda. I don't know if its because they're both so good looking, but something about this couple puts a smile on my face.
@mwerner1020 - I couldn't agree more! To me it's SO easy to see. Whenever Brenda & Sonny were a couple, you never saw her try to steal a kiss with Jax whenever she would see him. BUT whenever Brenda & Jax were a couple... Sonny kissed her at least THREE times that I could remember, and she NEVER hesitated to kiss him back. (okay once, but a few seconds later, she gave in then too). She even admitted in the cave, that she tried loving Jax the way he wanted her to, but she couldn't.
I think your kidding yourself if you think she didn't love Sonny more. Sure Jax was probably the better "fit", but she loves the "bad " guy more. She was always crying,never confident,never her herself - BECAUSE SHE WANTED HIM SO MUCH MORE. She always thought she loved Sonny more than she loved him. Jax is nothing but a friend and they really had nowhere near the chemistry and body language Brenda and Sonny had. Brenda wanted him to want her so BAD.
