Love the lullaby part...does anyone how the river lullaby lyrics she sings here (or in the Mandarin) translate? I'm doing a school project on China's orphans, and part of my thesis is the misunderstanding of mothers giving up their kids. I think many of them are more in the same situation Moses' mother was in. I'd love to include this song in my presenstation, but want to make sure the lyrics make sense with the subject.

I love how people say she didn't sing Asian languages, when the most important one she sung was an Asian language: Hebrew.

They are right in saying she didn't sing any of the East Asian languages; Cantonese, Mandarin, Japanese and Thai, but yes she sung Hebrew (obviously) which is strictly speaking part of the Asian continent (as is Russia). She also sung her parts in all of the European language dubs, as far as I know, however I have not watched all of them to confirm this.

A large number of Americans say stupid things which reflects poorly on the reputation of other seemingly more educated Americans like you :-(

Likewise, even *we* have a few idiots who claim that India is a separate continent or whatever 8-) I believe the Asian continent includes all countries as far west as the Arab states and Turkey (anything further north such as Azerbaijan is part of Europe).

Problem is I think a lot of people tie together Asian with the round face and thinner eyes. I went to school with a boy born to Lebanese parents who used to make racist remarks towards Asians. So I used to say: "your parents are Asian, too!"

Mhmm. All those countries are Asian. People forget the word "Orient" which is the word for all the countries like China, Japan, Korea, etc.

Regions are usually separated by culture, and the culture in the Middle East tends to be so dramatically different from that of the rest of the continent of Asia that we characterize it as a separate region.

This is one of those songs that sounds amazing in any language.

Although I'm surprised that such a blatantly religious movie was released in China. I know that the government has eased up a tiny bit on their religious restrictions in the past few years, but it's still surprising.

This was released in Hong Kong. Not Mainland China. And it came out in 1998, only one year after the Handover from the UK. Hong Kong has never had religious restrictions, doesn't have any now, and never will (knocking on wood).

Actually, she sang on many of the versions (not sure which ones right now), but for some reason I doubt she did this one. She does do Hebrew and English for sure ... I want to say that she does it in 5 other languages, but I'm not sure which ones.

Here in my country (Brazil), Prince of Egypt DVD comes in 4 languages: English, Spanish, Brazilian Portuguese and in Cantonese. For this, I have all Prince of Egypt movie in Cantonese.

But I know that all DreamWorks movies here in Brazil, comes with a cantonese version. all of them. But I don't know why. English, Spanish and Brazilian Portuguese we can understand. But Cantonese..
