Hey man do you see on your steering wheel where it saids "lock"? Mines is all ripped off because someone tried to steal my 1988 ford bronco. I think its called the upper cover casting. Do I have to replace the whole steering wheel or just that part?
@cannibal566 you should be able to just replace the upper cover casting. See if the ford websites sells it anymore or ebay then refer to a manual on how to replace it. Get you a manual thats for your specific make and model like a chilton manual they are very helpful
@3344PIZZA I see you obvious dont have respect for yourself that you call others names and its funny cause this is 2012 the nigger word doesnt offend alot of black people you dumb fuck.
@br0ken68 I took it apart to fix the cancelling cam cause I wanted to have working signal lights. when I when to press on the steering wheel back on the upper bearing started falling out so I assumed that this was the issue for my steering wheel noy going back on like butter. Is there a tool needed to reinstall the steerig wheel cause I used the lock plate remover to press it back on but the threads were getting stripped.
i had the same problem on my regal, try your chevy/gmc dealership it cost me 60 for a whole bearing set brand new still having trouble getting my lock plate back on
the steering wheel is a press fit and won't go on til you tighten up the nut. That's why you need a steering wheel puller to take it off. I'm not understanding why you took it apart to begin with? Yes the turn signal cam is broken, but what else was the problem? I'm working on my 92 caprice right now. In my case the car wouldn't start the rod that goes from key to ignition switch was broken ($98 bucks from GM) TYVM!! Anyways lmk and maybe I can help if you're still having probs
@goonchon nah its not a oldsmobile its a chevy... as far as the telescopic wheel is concerned, you can watch some videos and google how to reinstall a telescopic wheel make sure you do your research because trust me I have made a few mistakes of my own but u can only learn from experience.
yeah bro you took to much out, if your column was that bad you would have been better off getting another one from the junkyard or having yours rebuilt
@MELMAN109 the cap was half way up the column and I had figured maybe that was the problem for me not being able to press the steering wheel back on. Hey this is my first time doing any of this stuff so its a mistake I learned from.
There is no need for you to take non of that shit out!!!! That cap keeps the bearings in place, now you need to take your shit to a shop and get it fixed! your gonna have hell putting that shit back together. Unless you wanna pay ya boy, I got all the parts you need and I can fix it.
@SLODWN well if i would have known the cap keeps the bearings in place,do u think i would have taken it out? The cap was already half way off,and if you read my post to melman109 u will see why i took it off. I need my car to be moving asap so how much the shop charging and how much you talking about?
