I loved hearing the Vette at the Long Beach Gran Prix in 2009. They were the last 2 cars left in the GT1 class, all the competition fled to GT2. It just had the most beautiful, raw sound, that even the Ford fans were slack jawed when it flew by.

The Honda's sound is impressive, but it really just reminds me of a dazzlingly beautiful snobbish supermodel, who won't lift a finger to do more than let the nail be polished, and has a chauffeur driving her around.

The Corvette's sound is a bit more like that drop-dead gorgeous barmaid who can strong arm the fighting drunks out to the street, and then drives home in a beat up pickup.

That's just the way I see it, and I'd much rather have the latter.

Yeah they are, a similar engine to the one in the Z06's in fact...The ZR1's engine has very little relation...The Corvette's run on the LS7.R a 7-litre V8 that revs to 7,000rpm...

Aston Martin keeps up because whined and bitched about the Corvette team's money and got the intake restriction changed. They made the Corvette slower instead of making their car faster and they still only won by one lap in one of the 24hrs. Not exactly admirable but yes they did win.

If I recall the DBR9 won that because the Corvette was a ways ahead of them and the DB pitted to get rain tires after the C6R had already gone by, which is the only reason they did not win it. When you lead every lap of the race except for the second half of the last lap because someone else behind you changed tires because they noticed it started raining... Yea the Corvette won that one.

Big displacement always sounds better. Every one of these C6.R videos gives me chills.  That 427 coming 'round the bends and then the straightaways sounds like the boosters on the Space Shuttle launches.

This 113 dB regulation came in 2005, before that there was a regulation (2000-2005) saying max 110 dB but when recorded at 3800 rpm from few meters from the car. I guess that then basicly was much higher limit than now. At least would explain why cars sounded so much better.
