  • Yo, can you stand, walk, anything? Do u ever hold onto ur wife for support and stand?

I think u should, helps your muscles cuz u prob got non in ur legs.

  • this is really sweet :)

  • cute couple and let your marriage last a life time.

  • I have a friend with CP and we going to a college dance together for the first time. I sometimes feel bad when he says something and I could not understand him the first time. How can I handle a situation like this without asking too many times and frustrating him?

  • Any love is good love. Rock on.

  • interested in a 3 way?

  • My brother has CP it would be amazing to see him get married

  • Hey, I want to say its wonderfull to see you two so happy together:) I work wtih people with sever mental and physical disabilities in their residential home. Recently I met a man who has cerebral palsy due to a motercycle accident. He is a wonderful person and after seeing your vid. I feel more confident about going on a date wtih him. I'd like to become friends wtih you both and get to know u better too:) cheers!

  • @sassy1327 cerebral palsy is not a condition that you acquire in life, it is a condition acquired at birth. Are you sure that he doesn't, like me, have a spinal cord injury and/or brain injury?

  • Do you have a normal sex life?

  • How did you guys meet? :)

  • I personally feel bad for Barton. My husband and I read Megan's blogs... Barton should not have to "wake her up and drag her off the couch" to have time with his wife. The way she writes about Barton gives the impression that he is a burden to her.... He can do better!

I am a woman with CP and my husband (Joey) has a mental illness. We have had our ups and downs in our marriage/ Having Joey ride around on my lap would cause blood clots.

  • @joewood2000 This comment struck a deeply personal chord for me (Barton). After six years of marriage, with both positive and negative moments, I am still madly in love with my wife. Marriage is about growth, and none of us are perfect 100% of the time. We began our blog as a venue to share who we are as human beings, with all of our intricacies and imperfections. We share these stories to build community and enhance connections with others, not as a place for unfounded judgments. - BC

  • @joewood2000 You guys sound like my husband and me... He has CP and I'm severly (on disability) bipolar. There are always going to be ups and downs but that's what makes life interesting and teaches us the things we need to know :)

  • You two are SO CUTE together! You remind me of myself and my husband. My hubby, Patrick, also has Cerebral Palsy (spastic quadriplegia) and reminds me very much of you. I, too, fell in love with the man for who he is. We have wanted so badly to make a TV special or show for Discovery Health or TLC because the world NEEDS TO SEE that disabled people can make WONDERFUL spouses. Is our marriage and life perfect? No, no one's is. But we are REALLY happy together--just as I see you two are! :)

  • @WMCR2001 Yes, yes, yes!!! This reply is all I have ever wished to hear ... the media is SO afraid of this beautifully full side of the world.... they are poorer for their lack of adventure into the entire disabled "field". I wish I could know you personally:) Very warm regards! (and, of course, to Barton and megan!!!)

  • I look for inspirationAl people. You are certainly that. I envy having A mAn look at me that wAy.

    I will be in touch.

  • I would love to know how you met...you are an inspiration...lots of love from friends in the UK xx

  • Be forewarned.. most people with lifelong disability need a "Shrink"

Most are not emotionally capable of dealing with marital issues in real world sense. Can't walk in their shoes and they can't walk in yours = doomed relation or long miserable one, lol. Hmmmm... ;(

  • @YourLastViewer I'm disabled physically, and guess what? I'm like anyone else emotionally. Don't assume that people who are physically disabled can't handle what life throws. If anything, I have more experience emotionally with life. You could never handle what that man or anyone with a physical disability goes through. It's not a laughing matter.

  • "people wonder what is it like to have somebody...a marriage with a disability?"

and the dude's like "beats me"

    also

this guy could come home drunk and you wouldn't know..what a boss life.

  • tears... :'-(

  • Like, even though his brain is hosed, he appears to be a pretty decent guy. Wishing you all the best for many years to come. You go, girl!

  • I like how fake and scripted this is.

  • @JoLu4ever13 You can think that all you want, but there are people who are disabled that get married. I have CP and I'm getting married to a wonderful man who sees me for me despite my physical limitations. You don't know these people, and you don't know what it's like to be in our shoes.

  • @eejhj85

I'm not saying that people with disabilities can't get married. My boyfriend has Epilepsy and weather I want to spend the rest of my life with him or not has nothing to do with his disability. I was just saying that this video seemed like it was just two people getting paid to read lines and they weren't really a couple.

  • @JoLu4ever13 They are a real couple. Read their blog. Just because they can speak on camera well doesn't mean they're not a real couple. Do your research before making assumptions that these aren't real couples. They have their story, and it's not fake.

  • If this is fake, this is so fucked up.Otherwise, good job!

  • aww this is awesome!!! well done!! I use to know a friend who was dating a girl and his got cp, but now they are just freinds!! Anyways i treasure his friendship!! :)

  • I would imagine it is more difficult for a male with SCI to have sex, as there are impotence issues, but, other than having limited or no sensation, a female with SCI is no different than any other woman. My ex girlfriend had an incomplete SCI at L3-4, and was still able to enjoy sex, although it required a lot of experimenting and patience to get her to experience an orgasm. Some individuals have no sensation at all though.

  • however, this gentleman has cerebral palsy.. but again, it is the same for the sex. It's a motor control issue, not a psychological/cognitive issue. His speech is impaired due too vocal cord and mouth muscle control, not mental disability.

  • Diskettes & Sk8ergurl: think about how you have sex. that is how ppl with SCI's have sex. no different.

  • You guys rock! My wife & I are in the exact same situation. We have an almost 6-year-old daughter and 85% of the people we meet assume she isn't our natural child (at least by me), but they are shocked to hear that, yes, I'm her natural father. Anyhow, keep up the awesome awareness!

  • I'm wondering how they have sex

  • Godbless this couple beatful couple

  • I wonder if he is capable of having sexual relationship ? and also people with spinal cord injury can they have sex?

  • Minus the goatee, Barton could pass as my exact double.

  • Comment removed

  • I have cerebral palsy too. I have yet to find that special someone. Your relationship is inspiring to me, reminding me that it is still possible.

  • hey i have cp to but a lesser case it good to see videos like this

  • I thought she was talking a little bit like a 1st grade teacher too. Just because since she was overenunciating her words & everything, it seemed a bit patronizing to me. I was hoping for a more honest video. She rehearsed that & was trying to sound extra sweet & overenunciated her words. It just seemed like she was coming off very unnatural to me.

  • Heck, I'd have taken him :-)

  • The guy is a womanizer and has space for you, babe, therefore go for the guy too.

  • I don't see any basis for that claim.

  • Bravo!!!:)

  • nex time dont speak like its 1st grade class

  • @fanjap respectfully it didn't sound that way to me.

  • notice that everytime you see a truly good person they are always envolved with animals some how or another. They have cats dogs birds ect, but they always have atleast one loving pet aka angel.

  • a very nice video

  • You guys Rock!!! I love this video and of honored to call you both friends!

  • Thanks for the review Martin! They are awesome

  • hes lucky to have such a pretty and caring wife =)

  • you guys are an amazing couple great video

  • Telling their story was so much fun. We didn't go in with a script and good thing. They have such a unique story.

  • I didn't know you guys were on YouTube too! Awesome! :) You guys are great friends and two of the funnest people I know!

  • Reach out to Megan and Barton on their site, I'm sure they'd love to hear from you too!

  • My wife Lisa has CP very similar to yours. We have been married for 8 yrs. She uses a power chair and we have a dog named Snowball. Our lives are no different than anyone else. We figured the physical stuff out years ago so we just do what we need to do to get things done. It's not a big deal anymore. We enjoyed your video and message very much. It is very similar to our situation. Thanks

  • Thanks so much for sharing! I hope you can reach out to the Cutters. Megan and Barton are awesome. Find them at Cuttersword, they are both writers.

  • I ride in my boyfriends lap. This is so sweet, and inspiring. My boyfriends a paraplegic, and his left arm was badly injured. It's really no different than any other relationship.

  • this was inspiring. what a wonderful message.
