  • Love class 37's

  • The train or the camera?

  • He owns 37109

  • I guess he can stand where he likes then. For the avoidance of doubt, the original comment was made in jest.

  • @oubliettehoggle how much did it cost him?!

  • The loco

  • I hope you slapped the guy who came and stood in front of the camera at 3:05 !

    Nice video otherwise! :o)

  • No, he owns it and it was only for a few seconds

  • great sound, its a shame ews scraped it

  • Really? and there was me thinking that the East Lancs Railway had preserved it and have been using it all summer....

  • i remember seeing it in RAIL mag were a 57 was pulling full scrap metal wagons with 37109 behind it saying it was sent for scrap but what happened to 37109 i dont know but it would be good 2 know that it servived the gas axe

  • Look for "37109 in br blue" she looks superb!!!

  • WOW that coat of br blue does look good!!! 37 109 deserves it!!

  • magic.

  • Uhh, your comment concludes that invironmentalists are complete fucking idiots, and all of them shit their pants when they see black smoke and blindly comment when in fact the car's they sit their fat asses in pollute more than this diesel train does. Diesel barely pollutes, only everyone who runs their mouth don't know a damn thing about how it actually works.

  • 1. class 40 and 50 used the EEV16

    2. never race a cold engine like that

3 u start it by either the genorator, or startermotors

4 the hunting idle is caused by cold engine oil (because it not thin enough when cold) not being able to supply the engine governor like on a steam road roler properly

    5. my dad used to drive bristol VR's an mw's with gardner engines and i used to help with maintainance on them as a very young lad and can remeber the cold start clag.

    6 i love clag.

  • Take her for a burn. It's something that should be done with anything thats intended to sit on display for the rest of its life.

  • its kinda hard for some 1 like me to explain,Ive only ever worked on cars for a garage in my local town. right next to the train station. Where they never have anything like these. or locomotives. my fav's. :) Knowing what went into the making of these vehicles and the immense size of the engine. compared to what i work with is a marvel in itself.

yeah engines are dirty and smelly and poluting, but there man made. This for me,

    IS GOOSEBUMP TIME HEHEHE

People who love this will understand.

  • what happens at 2:28, why dies it burst into higher revs and then settle into an idle?

  • prob just reved it up

  • why does it rev up and down like that???

  • something to do with an overzealous engine speed governor while cold.

  • It's like my VOLVO 960 Diesel Turbointercooler when start!

  • was the person in the green top andy coward?? good vid

  • the sounds of a hunting idle i could listen to that v16 for a long time. sounds like she needs something to do, she bored

  • its a V12 :)

  • oops iv got quick fingers :-)

  • yay she's been saved god bless the ELR

  • It goes well!!! ;)

  • It is excellent how Mr Guntripp has preserved this 37/0!!

  • Monsterous - especially when Gunny is driving

  • Okay I know nothing about trains what is the white smoke from and how do you know if it has started? By a steady stream of black smoke? it sounds like it's running when it does the multiple grumbles with the white smoke

  • You hear the engine start turning over (i.e. cylinders firing). The white smoke is overfuelling, the diesel in the cylinders isnt being completely ignited

  • no it isnt running with the white smoke i thought it was wen i knew nothing about trains but thats just not how a class 37 does it!

  • rustons?????/ english electric???

  • English Electric 12CSVT

  • Looks like AHHHH HOW DARE YOU START ME

  • BEAST!!

  • "I don't think its gunna go" ... Idlefire! Nice video.

  • Awesome!
