I think 181 dead and 20 BILLION dollars+ damage in the CHCH earthquake makes this look like a fairly minor event lol. Not to mention the ecological damage around CHCH was significant due to raw sewage in rivers etc.

This is a cargo ship not a oil tanker, there is only enough oil to do modest damage and he area will recover mostly inside a year.
