  • Geoff crashes like that, he survives. Dan Wheldon crashes like that, he dies.

    WHY, GOD, WHY?????

  • It's kind of crazy that the fence held there. Yeah it's what it's suppose to do but he hit that fence so hard he didnt even hit the wall the fence took the bulk of the impact and he was going 190+ mph and hit the fance at a sharp angle since it was in the tri oval. Plus don't know if they run restrictor plates now a days for trucks but back then these trucks didnt have restrictor plates. They ran em wide open

  • To this day, no one can believe how he survived. Simple as that.

  • I was there, in stands left of the fireball...we could feel the heat... Another thing that is not mentioned the truck broke the 3 inch cable that goes around the top of the fence as well as the fence itself 2hrs later we were racing again ... By far the worst I have see and yep I was there for Earnhardts' wreck a year later

  • I'm still amazed Geoff survived that wreck. I can remember what I was doing when it happened. He definitely had a guardian angel riding shotgun that day!

  • now watch earnhardt and tell guess which one survived

  • GRAFIC

  • WOW. He is lucky

  • nascar

  • Geoff Bodine is a local native, He is a great driva, but not great when he crashes.

He's lucky to be alive after that.

  • That is why you are not allowed to stand by that fence anymore..

  • @Damroughneck still people stand there and somthimes get hurt when a car hits the fence

  • @Damroughneck The question is, why in the world was anyone EVER allowed to stand by that fence. Common sense dictates that that was bound to happen sooner rather than later.

  • has to be the worst wreck in truck series history. i'm suprised the trucks kept racing at daytona after this wreck.

  • I watched that crash happen on TV and my first thought was he's dead its amazing he survived that crash

  • did anyone die?

  • Thankfully no but it did look terrible enough that you think Geoff Bodine should have. Miraculously his worst injuries were a broken wrist and a fractured vertabrae.

  • Nobody died...but considering that only the rollcage survived, one may have thought it. The whole right side of Geoffrey Bodine was broken by this crash.

  • no no body died

  • actually i believe one person in the crowd was killed. and three or four were seriously injuried

  • yes one was killed

  • Nine fans were injured, none fatally.

  • I'm about 90% sure that the "wooo" that you hear at 0:20 is the engine being thrown from the car. My dad and I slowed the video of this down once and we could see his arm flailing and the roll cage landing on it

  • caused by that idiot kurt busch

  • I have seen High Resolution pictures of this crash somewhere on the net and you can honestly see clearly each frame. At one point his arm is out the window and his body appears motionless. Try and find em

  • What site i need to know. im trying to get world's most amazing videos to use this.

  • Have they?

  • i have not seen it. i watch it every day on spike. Maybe most shocking or most daring has used it.

  • Dude, me an my father saw this crash live, and we both thought he was dead. Seriously. That car looked like a toy after been thrown around like a rag doll too and fro. It was probably the worst accident I've seen in any Nascar sport. Good thing, he didn't get killed.

  • How he survived that crash, I will NEVER know. Somebody up there must have been looking out for him that day because according to the laws of physics with the sheer violence of that crash, he very well could have met a far worse fate than Russell Phillips. Geoffrey was VERY lucky to survive such a violent crash.

  • wow! so he did survive this crash? How bad was he hurt?

  • he survived, and broke his right wrist, right cheekbone, a vertebrae in his back, his right ankle, and also suffered a concussion. Nine fans were also injured in the accident.

  • yep he somehow survived

  • ow.

i would really hate to be one of those people that was standing up there.

  • I believe 4 people were hurt 2 or so were the officials who keep people away from the fence in case of flying debris they all got minor burns I think... somethin like that. It was a pretty crazy wreck and actually if you pause at 47-48 seconds you can see an official standing right where the fireball hits and he is engulfed in flames for a second.

  • I remember seeing this live on TV. I think this is probably the worst wreck I've ever seen. Another that comes to mind is Greg Moore's fatal crash in the CART series in 1999.

  • i was there at calif speedway whe he died

  • whe greg moore died that is, was aweful, they didnt even show replays

  • this vicious yet non fatal crash was brought to you by roll cages.

    ROLL CAGES(tm): don't go stock car-or truck-racing without one.

  • i remember watching that race live i was shocked for like 10 min unbeleivable

  • feel the heat!

  • probably the worst crash in NASCAR history.

  • nope, russell phillips was the worst crash in nascar history he was decapitated

  • wrong that was ARCA

  • oh yeah i forgot

  • It was NASCAR, specifically the Sportsman series. It doesn't exist anymore. Russell's disturbing accident was the last straw for the series.

  • Wasnt that disturbing. At least his head wasnt tumbling don the track like in a lot of old F1 crashes and stuff.

  • @icpfan00 Actually, his head DID tumble down the track and land near the entrance of pit road....and one of his hands was in the catchfence. Nope, not disturbing at all...

  • wow

  • I had forgotten how scary the crash was.

  • Im glad he got through this i cant belive how dangerous this sport really is

  • can't believe he lived through that.

  • nothing about this crash is funny, if you knew Geoff and visited him about once a week like I did during his recovery. He wasn't a spring chicken when this happened. But recover he did and went on to race many more times. I saw him about 2 weeks ago, enjoying semi-retirement and playing with his grandkids. In almost all the other crashes, the driver walked away and raced the next day or the next weekend. Geoff did not.

  • before most of the time i watched nascar was for the crashes

  • I am usually a nextel fan...do not usually watch craftsman race...but that was one helluva crash....can you imagine being a fan in the stands when that happened...

  • weird scary

  • I was watching this on ESPN when it happend, I LOLed

  • thts scary yo

  • in the words of Rosco P. Coltraine 'what a horrendous crash,Flash' amazed nobody was toasted. but thanks heaven they was not.

  • bro i got it off limewire years ago lol

  • who cares, do you own it?

  • I was right there. This was the inaugural truck race during speed weeks. Unrestricted 358in engines churning out close to 800 hp. Mike Wallace driving the #2 ASE * won a last lap duel with Johnny Benson maybe. For some reason Benson doesn't sound right to me. So my memory is slipping away, sue me. No one in the stands was seriously hurt. It seemed more like attention whores.

  • Dang Bodines!!!!

  • man

  • I was there when this happened. No one really knew how Geoffery surrvived this crash. If i rememeber right, 7 people in the stands were hurt as well. Including a guard by the gate with the fireball. it was 2000 when this happened.

  • Well the only way I know that Geoffery survived is that the good Lord above was with him

  • that flash fire on the fence was awesome

  • stop posting this video ok

  • dude, it's a sign that the video is popular okay?

  • you bastard, i posted this before you. you take it from me?

  • Dude chill, a lot of people have posted it. It is a pretty big wreck.
