Ive seen dubbed movies and subtitled movies and of the both. Subtitles are BETTER. Reason why the actor is truly acting and though u may not understand it, you can connect the two. Dubbed actors in spanish suck, they over act and sometimes they miss cues. Ive watched japanese movies dubbed and thats just ridiculous. Remember all those missed cues? Come on!

@tayomeca - German, french, Italian also suck balls, they overact, they dont understand enough of the english language to transfer jokes or meanings, they miss cues, timing is horrendous. And don't even get me started on the eastern European ones, they don't even emote when they "perform" their lines, they read the dialogue as if reading from a book. It is pure pain to watch. Like I said, it is defamation of the artworks they ruin, and it should be banned.

@facepalmization Dubbing? this him lip syncing the line from the Mighty Mouse theme. Andy Kaufman did the same thing, he lip synced it. the joke was the funniest thing he could've done was nothing, so he almost did nothing, but it wasn't about what he said but how he went about "saying" it

@IsThis4Entertainment - As far as i know, the mighty mouse theme is in english. Jim Carrey is a canadian, where the main language is english and andy kaufman spoke english the times he was intelligible. The start of this vid they seem to speak some other ugga-bugga language?

@facepalmization oh that's so people of other languages can enjoy the movie, its not copyright infringement because its totally legal, the creators of the movie go about having this done, its not a bunch of teenagers downloading the movie and dubbing it themselves in their basement. and in canada saying that main language is English can be iffy...a lot of people DO speak english, but A LOT of people don't...

Text the movies instead, that works just fine in my country, and people still get to watch the works of art in their original, unmodified and qualitatively better form.

NOTHING destroys a movie as much as talentless hack ex-actors who couldnt cut it and now make a living overacting and ruining good movies with their crappy dubbing. Dubbing completely ruins a movie and makes it totally unwatchable

overacted it. kaufman is brilliantly restrained. carrey just can't help letting out his signature overacting. he needed to use the same awkward restraint in this as he did in eternal sunshine of the spotless mind. as far as comparing impersonations go, cate blanchett did a better job of bob dylan. Sadly i'm not convinced after seeing the real thing first.

@jimmyjimmyshortcakes I agree. Having seen the original (I saw the movie first) this feels to me less like "Jim Carrey playing Andy Kaufman"and more like "Jim Carrey performing Andy Kaufman's Mighty Mouse bit".

Don't get me wrong, Jim Carrey's performance is great, the way he puts his own slant and signature style on it - but that's the point. He has a different style from Kaufman, and I think he got a little too caught up in the act and forgot how to do Kaufman. Still a fantastic film, though.

jim carrey does a better job doing andy kaufmans acts then andy kaufman does. just has funnier faces and funny body language. but andy kaufman full credit for his brillance in comedy and we wouldnt have the funny metaphoric comedy we have today without him. he invented it and its great. R.I.P.

Wonderfully impressive movie. Jim Carrey was brilliant as Andy Kaufman. When it comes to put Carrey's best films (in acting department) my vote authomatically goes to Man On The Moon and The Truman Show. He deserved the Oscar or at least being nominated for this award. Courtney Love was great too - very underrated as an actress.
