I hate it when people like you talk down to sheet music like it's not expressive or enjoyable... it just makes no sense... Guess what, whether or not you know how to read music, any beats played on a drumset can be written down on paper so people who can't read music are only at a disadvantage.

Your lessons are put together really nice. I've been playing for 20 years (just for fun not professionally), and working on foundation rudiments is important. But, the manner you present things is straightforward and easy for a beginner to novice drummer to understand. Great learning resource.

wait EVERYONE let me explain he does RL on tom 1, RL on tom 2, then he does R on snare, L on tom 1, R on tom 2, and then he goes under his right arm with his left and does L on the side tom, it looks complicated and he didnt explain it that well but if u analyze it, its easy to figure out, its just fast, i hope this helped

i learned the drums by learning how to play them to certain songs, mostly the beatles, since i did not learn any special things about the drums, will this limit my drumming ablilty?

@heroofolympus I doubt it will limit it too much. My dad showed me a very simple beat and gave me his kit. I still do rotten drum rolls lol but I am doing way more than he taught me, like double bass. He did say "you gotta think it to play it". Thats true enough. Just take the rhythms and beats that you know how to play and use them differently

Say the letters not the sounds of the letters. Now each one is a hit on the drums 1 is your first hit.E is your second.& is your third and so on... thats how you count 16th notes. (double as fast as regular) S=snare FT=floor tom LT=left tom...

A suggestion, unless you really want the pattern, is to in the 3rd comp change the 2 strokes on the floor tom on the "and a" in the 3rd beat to double strokes. Ie. instead of on beat 3 going R L rack tom R L floor tom and then R on the snare, you go R L rack tom R R floor tom L snare. That will make it alot easier to hit the snare. Though practicing both is good, but I probably would have used the double stroke in a real situation.
