  • this is the fellowship i know and love. the ship is nothing like this anymore.

  • I just love this!!!!!!

  • Sounds like Sunday Morning - just before preaching! go ahead Fellowship!

  • does anyone have the broadcast when Felicia Coleman Evans sang this song? they had on the green robes I will never EVER forget that broadcast Felicia Sang that song like no one i've heard If someone has it can you post it? thank you

  • I cannot imagine Felicia singing this.....wow. I like this rendition! So 'sunday morning church' feel.

  • @blkhercules2365 O wow, I would LOVEEEEE to hear the version with Felicia singing this. I believe you about it being one you could never forget. The Blessed Assurance video is the only video broadcast on youtube of Felicia from her younger days. Her soprano was SOOOOO high and remarkable, like her gorgeous voice

  • Does any one have God Rose in a Windstorm by Clay Evans. Another favorite of mine i havent heard or found in years.

  • Anyone know the soloist's name? Would like to hear how high her soprano was when she was younger

  • I love the way the "Ship" rocks his song. Can someone tell me the soloist's name. All I know is that she has got to be one of those badd sopranos that shakes the church's foundation on the theme song. God bless you LiftHimHigh. I love revisiting your channel!!!!

  • @dougiemac622 Her name is Fay- I forget her last name ? I don't think she is still with us... This clip is at least 16 years old. And she wasn't present at the Fellowship Reunion concert a few years ago.

  • @zodiolestes how is the church???

  • Is there a reason why "change" always takes on a negative connotation when mentioned in regards to ministry. Are any of you the SAME as you were even 50 days ago??? We should be consistently seeking to change to the glory of God.

  • @THERIGHTREVEREND I whole-heartely agree! If you have the Holy Spirit, you should be changing day-by-day. The Holy Spirit prevents you from becoming "traditional" and "rigid". Without the Holy Spirit (or man without the Holy Spirit) you would be "traditional" and "rigid"!

We should all ensure that the virtue of God remains in all our worship experiences!

  • This is one of my favorite songs. I can truly do nothing without the LORD and only fail at everything when I try to do it on my own. I need the LORD 24/7

  • yes Lawd....Tina Watson ate this up back in the day! Ricky's version sent me up too, only cuz I had it on CD and could rewind!

  • sing mother!!

  • The lady singin this song has a nice voice

  • The arrangement if this was not done by Ricky Dillard & New G. The Group "Andre Woods & Chosen" of Detroit, MI. were the artist of this song. and The lead was done by The One & Only "Renee Thomas" of Rev. Charles Nicks & The St. James Baptist Church (Detroit, Mi.) This song was Arranged By Rev. Andre Woods of Detroit. MI. He has written & Arranged a number of Hits....such as "Faith". I really enjoyed Elisha, But if you can get a hold to the Orignal Copy, you enjoy it better!

  • Sho'nuff! (smile)

  • First of all this song was written by my grandmother, BEATRICE BROWN, and I remember it clearly, as a youngster sung by THOMAS A DORSEY and others. The story behind the writing of this song is even more amazing

  • I not for sure of the writer, but a long time member of St. James of Detroit! Our own Rev Andre Woods and Chosen sang and he arranged this melody and Evangelist Renee Thomas Sings the living he-- out of it on the recording.

  • The original arrangement was done by KENNETH WOODS, who, along with RAYMOND RASPBERRY, DELLA REESE, MILAN BROWN Jr, and BEATRICE BROWN, were The BROWN INSPIRATIONAL SINGERS. This version starts with the second verse. Ask Andre Woods if I am wrong. If Andre is Kenneth Woods, He knows me and my family, and was good friends with my mother, CANDIS BROWN. I am CANDIS and MILAN"s son, Rodney Brown.

  • Thanks for the history! I'm not sure if the names are cross, but the last names brings questioning. Your grandmother wrote a wonderful piece that is a favorite in Detroit. Its truly one on my many favorite selections done by Evangelist Renee Thomas, sorry to bias, check out the audio from my page. Once thanks for the history. Its always good to know where, why and how the songs of yesterday came about. Many of the music today can not compare them.

  • Wow i didnt kno this song wus oringinally from tha fellowship choir! Elisha from New G she kilt that song on tha unplugged cd.. it sounds gud!

  • Yes Ricky Dillard and New G did the song great justice, it was lead by Elisha Joseph Harris, and it's on thier Live and Unplugged Cd and DVD. This song was also sang by Tina Watson and St.James C.O.G.I.C Radio Choir.

  • Ricky Dillard did it GREAT justice

  • This song is such a blessing (focus on the lyrics first then the musical composition) that it should be re-recorded by a present-day good choir as Fellowship was. The song simply expresses the power of God in one's life. Beautiful!!!

  • did they make this song

  • Sang Ms. Faye

  • @CShack1964 .. Is Ms. Faye still with us?

  • You just can't beat Fellowship, great church with a rich history

  • what happened to the church you just dont hear this nomore

  • The world crept in while we slept.

  • Well...what does that mean?? lol....I hear the preacher over there is really good. Clay Evans is not the preacher there anymore. is that the problem?

  • @juliankidd Well this is just make take on it. Why tear something down that's up and running and more so, effective!. When Pastor Jenkins was selected as Pastor he had a fully functioning and vibrant church. All he really had to do is take them higher, but for some reason, he tore it down and it looks like it's taking a long time to get it back up to the standards they had under the leadership of Pastor Evans. Maybe it's something I don't know about but that's the way I see it.

  • @hammondman94 I couldn't agree more. Fellowship was an institution in Chicago. I don't understand what this new preacher is trying to accomplish. You don't make a change just for the sake of changing so that your name will be up and out there you build on what's already there. No matter what this new preacher does he will not erase the real Fellowship. God's hands has been on and in Fellowship for many, many years even when I became a member in the late fifties.

  • Rev. Evans retired after fifty years of service. There is a new pastor by the name of Franklin from some place in Florida. The musicians and that great choir is no more either. There has been quite a change in Fellowship.

  • The current pastor's name is Charles Jenkins. Yes, there has been a change at the Ship. As I've expressed to many people: when there is a change in administration, change--in general--occurs.

As Saints, we know to pray for INCREASED visibility and obedience for the entire Body. Pastors are part of the Body. Intercede on behalf of ALL God's children. Time is winding up, and this song reminds all that we have NO POWER. God is the POWER. The focus must be Him and HIM alone!

    Be Blessed always.

  • Well said! btw, does fellowship have a website? I have tried to google it but without success. Thanks.

  • yes type in the fellowship church of chicago and tell me what happens.

  • Got it. Thanks for your help.

  • with the change and all i wonder if you can still get the old fellewship choir tapes and cds from 1989 thru 2005?if you know any way let me know.because i want the tape from the 1989 festival of flowers broadcast with the late glen burleigh and the choir.

  • Where happened to the choir?
