LAST time there was a British football team in the OYLIMPIC tournament was LONDON 1948 , WHO was the team manager ? = MATT BUSBY ! RESULT = TEAM GB got KO'd in semifinals to YUGOSLAVIA !
Olympic football championship is basically a FIFA under-23 WORLD championship , played under fifa rules with fifa refs , and much to the OLYMPIC committee's continued annoyance a squad of 22 players 19 of whom have to be under -23 , + 3 senior players ! some countries take it very seriously particularly BRAZIL , it is the only fifa / WORLD tournament they have never won , BRAZIL & ARGENTINA allways pick 3 star players to go with d 19 youths MESSI & RONALDINHO played in BEJING !
We should all be proud to have a Great Britain football team, we are all British! our forces are British. We are one nation & as one nation we have a better chance of winning something. Football is changing & it is becoming harder & hard for any of us to win anything in the world of intonational football but I believe as a British team we can win the world cup or Euro champs, would this not bring our great nation together again? We could have a British team & play home nation games.

A Team GB made up of only English players (the so-called compromise) is and ENGLISH team NOT GB. Furthermore, the name at the Olympics should be United Kingdom not GB. Great Britain refers to the island name and doesn't even include Anglesey or the Isle of Wight, never mind Northern Ireland.
