there isnt a trick...its a step by step solution requiring different algorithms on different cases and solving the first two layers by intuition if you use the Fridrich method.

We didn't time him this time. Looking at the video though it took him 49 seconds to solve. I have seen him do it in less than 30 seconds though so hes pretty fast. And I still wouldn't call 49 seconds slow.

Well, I always solve with yellow on top. So that means blue, green, red, and orange are on the front and sides which leaves white on the bottom. Not that hard to memorize where 6 colors are on a cube ;-)

not very fast in general but fast for that particular cube.

Because those particular cubes don't have the spring in the core it is much harder to turn.

The lane to the left of us was the left turning lane.  We were going straight. At 1:21 you can see the left turning lane light change from green to yellow. We were still waiting on our light.
