  • @themysterymeatman Family Guy uses Toon Boom

  • @ZManGames When I said "user-created" I meant quality amateur work. Family Guy and other shows are produced by professionals.

  • This program looks really good, but I've yet to see quality user created content on par with the work of say, the Flash community.

  • @themysterymeatman There are many great examples. Check out the Animate User Stories section on toonboom dot com.

  • @themysterymeatman the creator of harrey podder said he used this program, search it on youtube :)

  • @atebansk8ndstroy Thanks for the recommendation. That was great, shame I didn't know about it sooner!

  • @themysterymeatman

Let's just say pretty much every cartoon you see uses this...

  • and me idot draw evry new moving a new frap>.<

  • hum .... in this clip, the lineart is good .. when drawing the lineart on my pc is very "pixelated" ...... like MS paint .. and I want to stay like this in the video ..soft :( please help me

  • Is the program all vector based? I want to be able to draw frame by frame.

  • @sunzoo1 Yes it is. You can actually do frame-by-frame as well as cut-out animation, or a combination of these styles. Check out a clip of Toot & Puddle. This is an excellent example of advcaned cut-out that completely looks frame-by-frame.

  • @MotosierraAnimations Please post your issue in the Toon Boom Animate forum for prompt assistance. Thanks.

  • Hello guys, I am currently looking for a person who can partner up with me on YouTube to help me out with some animations.I am not that experienced but I am learning. • @ToonBoomAnimation how can you use the bone tool??????

  • YOU ARE CHRIS GEORGENES?

  • i cant imort any type of voice i tried mp3,wav, ....

  • @softic15 Leading audio formats are supported so you should not have any issues with those. Please post your question in the User Forum to get some help.

  • Deos anybody know if I can still upload animations and stuff to new grounds if I use this ,or toon boom studio to animate?

  • @SilverfangX777 Newgrounds currently only accepts the SWF format, and yes ToonBoom can output a SWF file. You won't be able to add a preloader or any interactivity however, such as play/replay buttons or website links. For that side of things you'd need to use Flash Actionscript

  • I need to get this

  • looks awesome

  • with this software, I think any decent computer user can make animations no matter what.

I can't afford to get it though '~(o_o)~'

  • It's HARD to believe that Toon Boom is now AFFORDABLE! Back in 1998 when Toon Boom was fresh out of the womb it was running around 10 GRAND! And you could only run on a UNIX based computer like Sun-Micro-Systems--another 12 GRAND!

Now, over 10 years later you can get better Toon Boom software for only $500 that can be ran on a regular PC or Mac!!! MAJOR DIFFERENCE!

Guess I'll finallyh be getting this!

  • @StarWoors what 10 fuckin thouasnd for animation? OMFG!

  • @Starioshka

I visited a sales rep for ToonBoom in Burbank,CA near Warner Brothers Movie Studio and was ask to apply for FINANCING!!!!!!!!!

  • can somebody tell me the advandge of having of having toon bom over flash cs5

  • @09lilkiller Flash is generally best for SWF movies with small file sizes and anything that needs interactivity (i.e Flash games, Flash websites). ToonBoom is superior for animation in video formats, e.g TV, DVD or video websites (like YouTube, Vimeo, etc).

  • Why should I get toonboom is flash can do all this stuff....

  • @qaz474 Simply because Animate is a true animation software and was developed with the animators in mind. In addition to advanced drawing tools, you can access the built-in multiplane camera, automated lip sync and the 15 most popular effects in animation.

  • @ToonBoomAnimation Hey can you buy this at a retail store? I'm from New York might not sell from where I live and I live in LongIsland.

  • @Dailybabble You can only buy it online directly from Toon Boom's web site.

  • @Dailybabble LONG ISLAND STAND UUUUUUUUUUUUP!!!! FREEPORT!!!! Lol

    sorry...I had to

  • @qaz474 why should you get flash when toonboom can do all that stuff....

  • is toom boom studio better than this or what can you tel me witch toom boom is the newest toom boom creation to make animations ?

  • is toon boom even used by insdustry for tv animation i mean is it used in cartoon network ?? what software cartoon network use to do animation ???????

  • @imranbug81 The Toon Boom Harmony pipeline is the industry standard, which is why it received a Technical Emmy back in 2005 for its significant contribution to the televised animation industry.

  • @ToonBoomAnimation hum.. first i though Adobe Flash is the software to do 2d animation but now i did some researches on TOon boom & i think this is the one.. but i hope when i am learning and mastering this software a 3rd software should not come on my face saying i am the real one lolz....

  • @ToonBoomAnimation hey one question there are lots of versions of toon boom animation which one is the best....

    Toon Boom Harmony

    Toon Boom animated pro....

    etc... ???

  • @imranbug81 It all depends on the type of projects you do: Harmony is the top of the line solution to create television series and feature films. Animate Pro is more designed for the professional independent animators, whether their background is traditional or Flash style.

  • @ToonBoomAnimation hum....... i see... and the toon boom Harmony what does it have to do with Client and server... thing.... i mean its not like we are networking or something... !! !!! ?? thankx again for your reply

  • @imranbug81 Harmony is a network solution. It all depends on the scope of your project.

  • this looks awesome, but it might take a while to learn everything

  • Is This Free?

  • @HomeMadeGunNut There is a Personal Learning Edition that is Free. Check it out in Toon Boom's web site.

  • @ToonBoomAnimation The PLE won't even let me move my characters or even let me animate.

  • @T2Productionsx Please post your question in the Animate User Forum as this is not supposed to be like that.

  • does this software come with a drawing scanner

  • @Jas9999Sh You can scan drawings into Animate using a scanner that supports TWAIN.

  • Hey im 12 and im trying to get good at animation but it's hard.. haha anyone got a good tutorial for toon boom :D no hate plz

  • can i import hand drawn characters into toon boom animate? we are trying to buy the toon boom animate software and we are trying to do some animations and put them in a video game i was wondering if we can do that with this software. thank you please reply (we're future clients).

  • @saprissa9 Yes you can scan using a scanner that supports TWAIN.

  • SWEET!!!

  • Soon they will stop making Adobe Flash because Toon Boom will have taken over it, But i like Toon Boom better though.

  • whats the best to animate?

toon boom animate? toon boom studio? toon boom storyboard????

    i hope somebody answers! :)

  • @JohnnyLProductions Toon Boom Storyboard is for storyboarding only, enabling you to build up your story, check the flow, set your camera moves and import your script. Once this is done, the best tool to create your animation depends on what you are planning to do. Toon Boom Boom Animate is more powerful than Studio as it includes more advanced drawing features and special effects.

  • The kinematics thingn seems pretty neet

  • @PhotoshopVT You can download the PLE and see for yourself. :)

  • Holy shit, $500?

    Thats a little steep

  • @Tubbsmcfat FYI, on Sept 1 at 9 am EST, Toon Boom will have a one-day sale...Animate will be available at $299.99 for one day only.

  • @Tubbsmcfat I'm considering buying Toonboom but I found it on Amazon for $70, not sure when it was $500.

  • @ToastShooter there are different versions. some for professionals and some for beginners

  • @MultiSlim123 we do, check out Toon Boom Studio.

  • Also this, so saying TRUE DIGITAL ANIMATIUN doesn't that make every single animation made in flash no matter how amazing a lie?

  • @Shinzu92 We use the word True because Toon Boom is a FULLY dedicated to animation.

  • @MultiSlim123 Animate is currently on special at $499.99

  • but i got a simpler kind like for beginners where the pictures are already made but still

  • got version 3.0 i made a dragon, an alien, and a human fight over a newspaper putting on youtube once im done really cool and im only 10

  • @ToonBoomAnimation

Hey, this animator looks amazing! But I have a question, is it free? I mean, I'll probably buy it if it isn't, but I'm just wondering.

    youtube.com/user/MarcMagix

  • toonboom animate is for mac 8)

I recommend it, its an awesome program

  • @llllllslerglllllllll Thanks for the great feedback. Make sure to submit your animation to the Toon Boom Showcase whenever you are ready.

  • flash is harder but you actually animate.

  • @SkittlekittenNG Animate is designed for animators so why suffer?

  • m-m-m-m-morphing!?!? That camera movement... holy cow

  • with toon boom you can make high qualitiy vids like this...

  • how it works the 3d perspective? you build a stage in the program or you import them from other 3d software? or its like vpe in after effects?

  • @karadanianoI The 3D perspective is built-in Animate. Create your characters and lay them out in 3D space.

  • Which is better ? Anime Studio Pro or Toon Boom Animate?

  • This looks awesome. I currently use Flash and i was just thinking i am an pretty experienced flash user so will it be easy for me to learn toon boom? I mean this looks pretty similar to flash from alot of views.

  • @KormakurBreki @KormakurBreki It should be especially easy if you're already an experienced Flash user. That was my background too, so check out some of the tutorials I've made, since they point out many of the similarities, but more importantly the improvements. Drawing Substitutions are something you should really check out early on. Its like Symbol swapping in Flash, but you don't have to destroy a tween to swap art work.

  • this looks pretty epic. its almost like flash pro.

  • @MrMeshida you mean better than flash pro as this one is truly designed for animation creation

  • @ToonBoomAnimation *nods* i will try this out over the weekend.

  • @ToonBoomAnimation

    oooo, You Went there! ;)

  • i have this and its really hard to figure out how to use it.........lol took me 15minutes to figure how to add another frame

  • @alexhoty96 check out Adam Phillips video tutorials. They are great.

  • My friends are making a video using this software but it looks rlly hard to figure out....I jst lik moviemaker it may take longer but it works

  • @LadyJane6374 If your friends need help, they should let us know. Moviemaker is not designed to create animation. It takes longer for sure and you can't achieve the same quality.

  • i prefer flash but really its what you like best

  • i started animating a while ago and this looks really cool! its a too expensive for me now, but i can probably get it when im older. is it true that toon boom animate is used for the simpsons?

  • @ComicWolf16 We have special for students if this is an option. Check out our Education section in our site. For the Simpsons, they used Storyboard Pro and Harmony.

  • @WhisperingStrings2 The tablet needs to be purchased separately.

  • can we make chipettes here?

  • @Wihpri77 Chipettes are 3D but you can definitely create similar ones in Animate by using textures.

  • Whats the difference between toon boom studio and toon boom animate?

  • wow its looks like 3d thingie studio but this is pretty cool

  • just got animate now! its awsome!, only thing im having trouble with it creating an effect and rotating it in 3d space ect i am a noob at animate

any help wil be appreciated bigtime ! :D

  • the best is to post your question in the Animate forum. You will get plenty of help!

  • downloading toon boom 5 right now lol

  • thats illegal lol

  • its not illegal i downloaded teh trial lol

  • Okay, sorry I misinterpreted lol

  • Wow, that looks pretty cool.

  • Looks awesome :D

  • Animate looks promising! I already own Toonboom Studio and Animate is just the upgrade I am looking for.

    Studio 5 has features I don't need.

  • hey i have toon boom 3

i am havin trouble importing sounds such as a mp3 to my animation can anyone help me?

  • Call me old fashioned, but I think the digital age has killed much of the organic feel of 2D animation.

I believe that Ren & Stimpy was the last great 2D cartoon. Even setting the content aside and focusing on the animation style alone, it was superior.

The animation felt so HUMAN and so organic.

We don't need inverse kinematics. We need software that enables us to replicate the analog workflow and preserve the look and feel of traditional 2D animation. The Flash look doesn't do it for me.

  • I agree with you to an extent but I think inverse kinematics is good if you are doing much of the production individually. I think traditional animation is best if you have an army of animators working with you.

  • Quantum Anomaly may I suggest TVPaint Animation the animation created with that software looks closer to the aesthetic you are looking for. However I think the artists' input determines the overall quality and aesthetic of the final product rather than the technology itself.

  • @ QuantumAnomaly You could use Pencil if you want the old school asethetic.

Pencil is an opensource animation software that has both vector and bitmap capabilities and it's very much a cell_based animation system on your computer. You can even use TVPaint to achieve the effect you are looking for too.

  • Comment removed

  • @QuantumAnomaly Funny you mention Ren and Stimpy. Ironically, John K. was one of the first animators to use Flash as an animation tool, having been fired from Nickelodeon in the early 90s.
