plays about with the pulse far too much, always a weakness of a musician in my opinion, striving for effect in this way. rubato should only be used in moderation or you lose the majestic structure of the piece (any piece, but this one especially). Dynamically and texturally it's very good though.
the phrases at the LH chromatic scale are scary and i like the way you can hear the ascending scale and the desc is kind of blurred. this is very different than the others that ive heard in a good way
I navigated to this piece following a truly astounding and breathtaking first hearing of Mark Farago's version of Harmonies Du Soir, and I am truly amazed at the sheer subtlety and musicality of his playing of this most difficult but brilliant piece...a masterpiece indeed!
I can only echo what has been said. You are an astonishing talent. I was in tears at the end of your recording of the Harmonies du soir, and this is every bit as beautiful and unique a performance. I will write about you in my piano column. You must not be kept a secret.
Farago is without question the most astonishing talent -- one as yet unheralded by a public that ought to be made aware of him without delay - I have encountered in decades. Where has he been? Such communicative prowess, eloquence, poetry, finesse, and not least, that opulent, luxurious tone of his that gives even Arrau a run for his money...
Might I say, your background pictures are always beautiful!
Now down to business. You are spectacular! I wish you all the luck in this world. Your interpretation of this, most notably your rubato and different take on the dynamics all of the tremolos, is perfect! Stunning! Beautiful!
the more I listen to this pianist the more I want to hear......
