@QQTrick1QQ No you don't want the plastic close to where you are painting because when you get overspray on plastic and drys it will flake off and land in the paint job.. You always want to outline your area with paper and tape first then plastic off the car. Pete

i hope you charged his ass for this extra work . the guy's been so fucking anal about the build to the point were he made you reuse all his original body bolts and paint all those fucking things . thats why I have a sliding scale at my shop! 1 is 40 an hr another is 60 an hr and the other is 75 an hour all depends on what I have to do.

If I dont want to do it and it is a bitch and so r u! it will be higher, that way if u do except then its worth my time, afte all I am 1 man shop!

and trust me I am not ripping them off, everybody else has said no or wants 10 times what I charge....

I would definately give him a full price bill. Maybe give him some slack if you still have some paint, materials etc. left and don't have to rebuy. Then you can charge him again when he dents it all up putting the engine back in. Oh well keeps you in business from his mistakes...

Pete, I admire your work ethic in not taking the easy way out in a situation like this. As frustrating as it is to have to do the same job 2 to 3 times it's refreshing to see someone actually do the job right every time. I don't see why Phill wouldn't expect a bill from this... I don't drop a hammer on the hood of my car and assume that you would fix the dent for free. Take it easy and keep up the good work.

I don't think you'll have any problems with Phill, i seems like a stand up guy, and seems like he took it as a given that he'll pay for it back when the engine got pulled out and they fucked up the firewall, you'll see you was stressing over nothing and he'll be fine with paying for it. The only thing is you just want to "get 'er done" and out the shop. It's all work. Work is work.

How do you heat your shop when you have to paint in winter time?

@mitmaks Being in Dallas Texas it doesn't get as cold as other places, but when I paint in the winter I use my Kerosene heaters 500,000 BTU, I have 3 of them, I take once put it down the side of the paint booth, turn it on, and the paint booth when on sucks in the how air, through the intake filters... Pete

I guy told me something one time I never forgot. Cars are pressed tin. Put a fortune in them, fix them up perfect, drive in your bare feet, hell take them to bed with u, BUT, u are saving it for the next guy. Unfortunately when the old boy gets his dream of a perfect car finished, the young fella that helps him will probably inherit it! lol. Without a doubt it certainly is near perfect...
