  • This guy really forgot the decoupler between the stages, and completely ignored it? Wow.

  • I think Jebidiah can also be compared to Kurt himself, for Jebidiah is the only excited about space along with Kurt. Lolz

  • hmm kurts first stage go him to half of what the saturn v's first stage qualified for, 67km...

if the kerbal scale is about half, kurt you've made quite an accurate saturn v!

  • I kind of saw that coming when I saw the metal rods between the first stage and the coupler..

  • Thaks for clearing that out I guess I thought he only rode apllo 11 so I own him a apolligez I guess I good at prehistory.

  • The Mun doesn't orbit yet, it is stationary

  • @MrRollback1 No it's not :O I got in orbit of the Mun, and i crashed on it! And i was so unhappy :(

  • Actally it was apllo 13 that was inseparatiable do your history lesson for pete sake

  • @Cutiesaurs Learn your grammar lesson for your own sake.

  • @Cutiesaurs Kurt was not referring to Apollo 13, but to the Gemini 8 mission Neil Armstrong was involved with, where an attempted docking procedure with a second spacecraft resulted in both ships rolling out of control around Earth, similar to the way Kurt's was (except without the second ship).

  • jebediah LIVES and as fearless as always

  • Yea because metric is silly compared to imperial?

  • I built the exact same rocket but it didnt lift off :(

  • Always double check your O rings.

    ...too soon?

  • It's the apollo 13 of kerbal flights! XD

  • @coffe3111 you mean kerpollo?

  • Oh wow, I'm top comment.

    On a kurt video. :D

  • Giant space penis

  • dammitsss dammitsss...

  • how does it go up like 1 km in a second thats too fast

  • @jaycodfan The people are smaller, and therefore, feet are smaller, but the conversions don't change, so meters are smaller.

  • The Failed Mun Mission song @ 15:40! :D

  • Have you already pre-ordered the game?

  • Where on the "apple axis!"

  • Happened to me in atmosphere after an already failed launch. The capsule eventually shook itself free, but only after the three amigos had been gooified.

  • kurt found the best way to waste fuel at launch.....

  • hey kurt is was wondering if you would like to try landing on the mun with my space ship? I spent a good amount of time on it and would truly appreciate you trying it. Thanks

  • Jebediah would look you dead in the eye with that face if you walked in on him banging your mother.

  • Dickface!

  • Wheres the next part? Get on with it lazy ass!

  • @Aureas86

    Go to his channel

    dumb ass!

  • I think Jebidiah is the personification of the space core

  • Bill does not like his job.

  • A-Poe-A-Piss. Phonics helps everyone!

  • @cowgonemoo ap-oh-ap-sis, if i recall correctly

  • Comment removed

  • Kurt, you're going to find that getting to the Mun can be done in 12 minutes, but it was done by someone else; I'm sure you want to do it your way.

    But here's a tip:

If you plan on landing, don't. It's EXTREMELY hard. Just orbit, its nice, and get the hell back to Kerbin.

    And good luck! :D

  • You should really use that solid fuel, it's fuel efficient and it helps get off the ground faster

  • Major Tom ...

  • These failure missions are almost as entertaining as missions that succeed.

  • You should download the comsat mod, and try getting a satellite into orbit. If you dont want to use the mod (all it is, is a satellite) you could take a fuel tank put the other winglets on and pretend its a satalite. You just have to set the stages up properly so that you can get into orbit an then release the satellite. Make that your next "Mission" :)

  • @Thermalburn could you give me a link?

  • @TheExtragamer Sure. the link is in this video's description, enjoy :)

    /watch?v=cXAgnSKN1ro

  • think you should go back to wolfie

  • I made a rocket 2 feet tall and it got past the atomsphrere

  • Jebidiah is comparable to Neil Armstrong

  • @MrTDWfan Jebidiah:thats one small step for man and one-

    *neil punches Jeb*

    Neil:DON'T STEAL MY CATCHPHRASE >:(!

  • @Killamatrix243 Pfft, like that would happen. Neil is a wimp compared to Jeb :P

  • @Deathbringer3557 yeah Neil walked on the moon jeb walked on the sun

  • @Killamatrix243 hes obviously not gonna say that. i dont think they know what a man is.

  • Go ahead kurt, talk to your spaceship, see how that helps.

  • There is no decoupler between your upper stage rocket engine and the triple connector. That is why it didn't separate.

  • why wont the game load for me?

  • "Shit metric system." NO imperial system sucks.

  • "This needs to start expanding and quick, please." - How could you neglect to follow this up with a "That's what she said", Kurt? You're normally on the ball for such things! :P

  • crapcrapcrapcrap!

  • kurt you are my rolemodel.

  • Transmunar Burn would be a great name for a band.

  • @mrhunam Their first single would be "Off the Koast of Kafrica."

  • "JEBEDIAH YOU FUCK QUIT SMILING WE'RE ABOUT TO DIE!"

  • @khakivideos Fail for getting into the orbit in the first place, win for actually pulling back in. EPIC win.

  • that first slow takeoff... THAT is why you need solid fuel boosters.

  • 25:06 - How could it do that, it couldn't possibly....

Just like the Hubble in the MST3K Movie.

  • @deoxy999 Filesize:

    0 Kilobytes

  • I decided to compete against Kurt in his bid to get to the Mun. Happy to say my comrades got there first!

(check my channel for the short clip)

So Kurt only one way to fix this national disaster...you have to land.

  • bill did not like that

  • @MultiFluffy77 bill's a wimp... lol

  • Okay, so I downloaded KSP, built many rockets, killed many astronauts, before finally getting an excellent rocket design. I launched into the sky, and got myself into an orbit that was almost perpendicular to the moon's. The apeopsis was 8,480 kM and the perlapsis (?) was only 1,500 kM. After 74 days in orbit, I managed to slow the ship down enough for a safe landing in an ocean. I just want to know if this is a win, for 74 days in orbit and safe return, or a fail, for the awful orbit?

  • @khakivideos 72 days is a long time! the orbit was pretty weird but if it worked it worked. next time try to get a more circular orbit. I'd say it was a win.

  • the higher you go the stronger your lower boosters need to be

  • kurt press A to do a barrel roll

  • @belckan just so you know the orbiting the sun is the easiest orbit there is all you have to do is use a ton of rocket power straight up

  • @liar200 or maybe just oh i don't no stay on this planet because we are orbiting the sun?

  • Troll stage 2 foiled Kurt's plans! NNNNOOOOOOO!!!

  • I live in Houston but don't think Im going to listen to your countless problems kurt

  • SOLAR ORBIT NAO

  • 15:40 remix anyone?

  • When I watching this video, I remeber when I saw Apollo 13 film for the first time.

  • WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT? JEBEDIAH IS JUST AS BADASS AS NEIL ARMSTRONG!!!!!!1111!!!!111oneone111!!!!!

  • I'm not sure if this Mun even moves.

  • @ThaSoulz It does move(if you look it has a velocity). Its just hard to see it move unless you either warp time or wait.

  • It's funny to see the US in the same group with Liberia and Myanmar. These three countries are the only ones yet to adopt the "silly" metric system. ;)

  • Hey Kurt - thanks for introducing me to this game. I'm hooked. Just made my first successful munar orbit and safe return. Failed several times due to Kerbal error - the spacebar really needs a safety-lock!! Good luck in your travels.

  • You skipped one step of getting to the Mun – getting your spacecraft into the same orbital plane (which is done by making burns perpendicular to your current orbital plane in the direction of target orbital plane where they intersect). Also, if you did the retroburn at apoapsis, you could've lowered the periapsis into atmosphere with just a little burn. All orbital maneuvers are done at periapsis and apoapsis for a reason (fuel economy [+ predictable orbital changes, but that's another story])

  • @carneyfex He was already on the same orbital plane because he launched perfectly east.

  • A-po-ap-sis.

  • Jeb is totally comparable to Neil Armstrong: they are both awesome!

  • U should use that rocket...just check that the stages work

  • I love you playing this game. Keep it up!

  • i use rcs and sas at the same time for getting my especially wobbly rockets off the ground you just add another tank or two

  • You should've called this episode "WAT" :3

  • 2:23 congrats kurt you have invented the elevator

  • In a "wordy" way of saying it, Apoapsis is pronounced as App-Oh-App-Sis

  • The tri coupler is only a coupler - you need a decoupler above. I did the same thing. ;-)

  • @eidalac kurt did put a decoupler, he did not click the screen

  • @eidalac He had a decoupler attached to it as well.

  • YAY! I was so afraid the three astronauts would be replaced. You go Jebediah. You go.

  • btw it's pronouced Ap-Of-Ah-See.

  • @jechet10 Apofapsi?

  • @LazyBoy159741 // @Knexxuss Giggity. But for reals, its Apof-Are-See. (kinda)

  • @jechet10 I've checked it in the dictionary. It's pronounced just as it looks. Ap-o-ap-sis.

  • put some thrusters

  • @3:44 - The position of that crater on the Mun reminds me a bit of the Death Star's superlaser dish.

  • You could just use the same design but add maybe 2 rcs fuel tanks.. There was no flaw in your model at all, it was just a bug in the game like you said.

  • Hey kurt, i find around 35k-40k metres a great place to start orbiting, and once your in orbit, it's easy as pie to get to the moon. Also; remember; it's good to have lots of thrust, but too much can be a problem, if you customize how much the boosters are thrusting, making it so that your speed is increasing by about .5m/s. Your speed is seen just above the ball thingy at bottom of screen btw.

  • Things you don't want to hear from your Space Program Director:

"We're hoping the moon will be in this spot when you are"

  • Kurt - you didn't add the separation collar thing-a-ma-jig between stages 1 and 2. No separation collar above the stack tri coupler thingie.

  • @rom65536 he did.

  • Jebediah is always smiling because he is making money. Look at who makes the rocket fuel ingame.....

Step 1: start a Space center and fuel manufactory

    Step 2:

    Step 3: Profit :3

  • 27:25

    Did I hear Minecraft?

  • Pretty sure it's pronounced "app-oh-app-sis," probably with emphasis on the first syllable. c:

  • Instant flashpack to WAT? in flob when you were like whaaaaaaaat

  • Comment removed

  • "I don't know how the SAS is still controlling myself" .... it's a large fly wheel. Rotations are cheap. Translations are expensive.

  • Am i the only one that thinks the continent you take off from looks like africa?

  • @iDennedy I noticed that too. XD

  • @iDennedy I also thought that Kerbin was modeled after Earth. :L

  • @iDennedy I personally thought that was the most obvious part of this game.

  • @iDennedy It's generally called Kafrica, I think, so yes.

  • You know besides the part of the ship getting stuck everything that happened is completely your fault the spinning could have been fixed easily by using the S.A.S (which you figured out during the cut). And you might have made it close to the mun if you had actually made the orbit go in the right direction you were assuming the mun was going counter clockwise but it was actually going clockwise so good job there come on Kurt you should have noticed it while you were fast forwarding.

  • @doggod106 buddy... grammar.

  • @littletortillaboy6 Grammar what? my grammar is fine if you can look past the suspiciously long sentences and if you can't do that...well honestly I don't really care.

  • @doggod106 I don't want to sound like a grammar nazi but you definitely have run-on sentences there.

  • @tehbertl No I understand and yes it should be at least 3 sentences but I made one long rant your lucky you got more than 1 period at all.

  • Kurt: Rocket Boosters. That is all.

  • If fins don't work in space, how do do rockets work?

  • @desolatetree Newton's third law of motion: every action has an equal and opposite reaction. So, since the rocket is releasing energy (through a chemical reaction) there is a force in the opposite direction on the spacecraft.

  • @jayjjj3 Ok, I get it now, thanks!

  • It didn't disconnect because of the struts connecting the liquid engine to the decoupler from the way it looks to me.

Anyway, very nice attempt, you performed the Trans Munar Orbital Insertion burn perfectly until your stage wouldn't fall off. You burned at the exact time you should have burned, it's what got me to the Mun, I however was trying to land, and *cough* crashed...

Also the comma and period keys will slow down and speed up time.

  • Remember that the Saturn V took two stages to get into orbit.

  • That's what the logs to my missions are like. Except I never get off the ground.

  • it says it in the after flight details on mine.

  • ive had that problem before i think something caused the disconnector to fail.

  • @ Kurtjmac Hey Kurt, I made a rocket that had the command module in the middle and onionlike layers of engines and fuel that accidently launched my Kerbals into the sun... probibly just my lack of skill, but why not try it out?

  • I started playing this music when the spacecraft was tumbling out of control /watch?v=F1mmHn-FD48 I thought it was appropriate.

  • don't use the RCS unless you need powerful SAS/correction...

  • I just inadvertantly flagged my own comment, anyway I meant to say Jebediah is a total nutjob

  • Jedidiah is a total nutjob xD

  • I just noticed this is 38 minutes long!

  • It is apo-apsis, and peri-apsis. Apsis is the generic suffix, Earth orbit have Apogee and Perigee, Moon Aposelene and Periselene.

    /wiki/Apsis#Terminology

Kinda like in french where you get variation of "Landing" depending on what you land.

  • app-oh-app-sis and pear-eee-app-sis

  • this has probably been said already in the comments but it probably didn't disconnect because the disconnecting module was in the wrong stage at setup. i've had something similar where I disconnected my solid states before firing them :/

  • Kurt your mostly correct with the Niel Armstrong thing, he was also with David Scott. What happened is the mission was to try out a docking system with a Agena target vehicle that was put into space. When Neil docked the Orbital Attitude Maneuvering System had a short circuit and bled most of the fuel through a thruster causing them to roll leading to an abort. Neil had to use most of the remaining fuel to stop the roll causing them to land the farthest away than any other mission to date.

  • Kurt, you start the lunar injection burn when you see the moon rise over Kearth from orbit. So your prediction was pretty good, but not necessary.

  • Did you remember to put a decoupler on the tri-majigger?

  • the ending just isn't the same without you snoring lol

  • Take a look at the tri-coupler description. It says "Just remember that it is not a decupler, and will not separate stages." The structural failure was when the stage broke off.

  • BOTH bill jeb and bob are back from dead. wait both? you named 3.

  • Wiggle your winglets!!

  • It's ap-oh-apps-iss and perry-apps-iss. If you watch a few Orbiter tutorials i'm sure somebody will mention it at some point ;)

  • This is how long each video should be!

  • Kurt's small rocket got stuck in the coupler...

  • @Knexxuss GIGGITY!!

  • i think the rcs burns in correspondence to the sas system

  • So today I got to the Mun! (finally) but as I was landing, I learned the hard way that the mountains on the moon are pretty tall....

  • kurt, horizontal wont increase your orbit very much, go more vertical

  • i made an orbit bigger the the planet's own orbit around the sun. i hope they brought extra food :P

  • 15:35 this has happend to me SO MANY TIMES BEFORE!! kurt is awsome

  • hey Kurt, i realized you could add radial couplers to the side of a central fuel tank and add fuel tanks to the couplers adding more thrusters along with a central one. and you could add a stack tri coupler to a bottom of a fuel tank and add 3 thrusters per fuel tank. thumbs up so Kurt can see!!!

  • @castingsinkers 3 thrusters per tank eats 3 times as much fuel.
