This theme was playedin the pilot of Caprica too, it was exciting when I heard it toward the end when Jospeh tells William that their family name is Adama.
Well yes. If you think about it; The Admiral had the great idea of storming a well occupied Cylon planet (New Caprica) In an almost forty year old ship and had no qualms about risking a suicide mission. I'd follow that man into Combat any day of the year.
I just love the show (on 09032010 the second part of Season 4 is available to buy in Austria). And I just love Bears music for the show, especially "Admiral and commander". It just gives me goose bumps.
Best TV ever made. The Shield is my 2nd favorite, but cant compete with the incredible music or dramatic battle scenes or revelations throughout the seasons.
BSG is one of the most emotionally draining shows I've ever watched, lifting me up to the highest of elation and dropping me down to the lowest of despair. I think the music plays a huge part in this effect.
Anyone who has ever had a father they've ever wanted to have apologize would get choked up with this theme and those themes used in n BSG. This movie made my bitch ass tear up so many times with Admiral Adama's scenes. Especially the ones involving Lee and Kara. I only wish my father was half the man he was. I'd take the silence and seemingly cold hardheartedness in a second. Very powerful music for a very powerful plot line through out the entire series. Even to the last episode.
Yeah I have to agree 100%. I NEVER got this attached to a TV show in my 45 years, and I am doubting seriously that I ever will. The closest was Space: Above and Beyond because of the characters and the story, but it pales by comparison to the story Ron told us over the last 6 years.
Oh Yes, we loved that show too. It was an event for my friends and I to watch that. We'd gather together and enjoy good food and good company. Yes, it was a good show, but BSG is a GREAT show. My BSG DVDs don't spend much time on the shelf. They are usually spinning the the player :)
yes its in Gaelic.. Siúlaigí a chairde, siúlaidh liom Mar cheo an tsléibhe uaine ag imeacht go deo D'ainneoin ár dtuirse leanfam an tslí Thar chnoic is thar ghleannta go deireadh na scríbi Seo libh a chairde is canaidh liom Líonaigí'n oíche le greann is le spórt Seo sláinte na gcarad atá imithe uainn Mar cheo an tsléibhe uaine, iad imithe go deo
Such a man was my father. He sacrificed everything for his family when the civil war broke out in my country. He died a humble death, and I would give anything... anything to feel his embrace just one more time. Scenes with Apollo and Commander Adama really tug at my heartstrings for this reason.
Whenever this comes on I cry like a bitch.

the tin whistle (or that is a flute??) always kills me. the "marching" snare at the end gets me too.
gprime85 3 years ago
@gprime85
its a low whistle. Its used also in the instrumental followed by the Uilean pipes. Both of which are traditional Irish instruments.
Fantastic use of McCreary's Irish heritage!
