This Laxity tune has a bassline obviously inspired by "Silk" Hurley's "Jack Your Body". Not a bad thing at all, but I am surprised it has never been mentioned.
This video was absolutely awesome in the day. This is the kind of thing which Anonymous and LulzSec should be doing, showing off their talents in a creative way. DDoS attacks are childish, let's see them make the Desert Dream for modern times, if they have the skills. I doubt it.
This demo still makes me proud after so many years.....i was properly one of the layziest members of Kefrens....together with Zeus ;-).but we had a great time...and i will always remember the fun we had. Laxity, R.W.O, Zeus, Airwalk, Hawkeye, and all the others.
This is the demo that will always come to mind when I think Amiga. I hate to use the word "classic" as it's a word that gets bounded around far too quickly and freely these days, but, it is what it is: A true classic. The visual cues with the music just blew me away at the time, and I remember the end - with it's Tibetan monk vocal and throbbing razor synth pulse - would loop so I used to leave it running while I studied. Haha... fucking top buzz.
Figure; this demo runs over 12 minutes, fits on two LOW density floppies (880k) and is simply amazing. You just don't see that kind of tight code any more.
I still have it working on two DD floppy disks on my Amiga 2000. YouTube doesn't do any justice to this demo, which is MUSTVIEW on a real Amiga. Especially the part with '1,2,3, 12.000 dots'
Still love it. Reminds us how far graphics have come in 15 years - but even despite that, this demo has a hypnotic quality to it because of the inspiration the coders had. And that soundtrack... really sounds good. More contagious than most, even compared with the improved fidelity of today's soundcards.
Found this song as .mod format when I started using fasttracker, impulse tracker for pc in the mid 90's. This song has been haunting me for decades, awesome song, laxity is awesome, the amiga was ahead of its time.
Greatest experience ever when it had been shown on the big screen at Saturne Demoparty 94 in France. I was there! Peoples got crazy because, back in those days, Desert Dream was a hell of a demo. Laxity was both the coder and the musician and we got very surprised by the result! Very impressive thing.

Yep, the youtube compression really kills the 2nd part. Download an emulator and the real deal, it's great to see it again in full quality :)
