It is shame and a crime against television the Alex Cox was never re-hired by the BBC. It's also a pity that The Parallax View DVD never included an freshly recorded intro by both Cox and the Director.
It's been proved that Oswald was not a mediocre gunman. His target practice was excellent. See BBC TV's edition of Correspondent on the Kennedy Assassination.
His summation at the end of it being a relatively peaceful coup is slightly limited. As it doesn`t take into account the 60000 Americans in Vietnam or the 3million or so Vietnamese or the fact that the Cia got to continue its wrongdoing world-wide and actually instituted Pinochet all due to the assassination.
This was part of the moviedrome series in late 1980's as I remember watching parallax and get carter through this season. At the time both films had gotten limited tv runs.
8.04..' He fired Allen Dulles'. Allen Dulles got hisself on the Warren Commission, and was at every session. The only one who did that. Modifying testimony. Setting himself up as a main player. Poor LHO never had a chance. Killed, so no trial...at which he would have been found not guilty.
excellent video. but i wouldn't discount a federal reserve link, as kennedy was directly going up against them by printing 4plus billion dollars in "united states notes" without charge to pay into the american infrastructure, and in turn becoming like lincoln, taft, garfield, andrew jackson and many of the founding fathers by attempting to take control of his nations currency from the money trust.
Yes, this was broadcast to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the assassination. Also shown that evening was a documentary about Oswald which basically said he did it all along and featured a number of lone-gunman theorists, hence Cox saying such filmmaking was "risible" - he was talking about the documentary shown earlier that same evening! There was also a brilliant short documentary about the Zapruder footage. This was my highlight though - Cox was a legend on BBC2 - bring him back!!
The Parallax View was also shown on Moviedrome (in the first season), but this is an intro for another night (Kennedy Night, it says somewhere in the intro). It's not the only time Cox was asked to introduce a Moviedrome film on another night. They must've liked him back then.
Quite right - The Parallax View had previously screened on Moviedrome. However, I think this was broadcast to coincide with an anniversary (30th?) of the Kennedy assassination.

Why oh why can't we have such genius on the BBC again? You'd think at least BBC4 would hire Alex Cox again

I loved Moviedrome. Being a teenager in rural north Wales, it was so enlightening...

I don't think this was officially part of Moviedrome, I seem to recall it was on as part of some conspiracy-themed evening maybe?

Indeed it is the 30th - Mr Cox says as much during his fascinating presentation.
