@ABOVEZESEALEVEL Fool's Mate as suggested is a good start. But follow up with "The Future Now", his most accessible early record, "Sitting Target" and "Skin", his best records from the eighties.
Make life worth more than dreams... absolutely fantastic.
Being a Hammill fan since I was fifteen, this has always been a favourite... ectually, I have (inadequately, I'm sure) tried to do this song accompanied by 'only' church organ.
What it also brings to mind is a third encore at the 'Stopera' builing in Amstredam, where Peter simply put the microphone aside, to fill the hall without any amplification or instrument...!
That was 'Chicago' (from Fripp's 'Exposure')... brilliant!
Me hacen erizar. La mùsica de Hammill y VDGG se me ha mezclado con los años de estudio de medicina y ver un libro es recordarlos. No voy a olvidarlos nunca.
It's true, Hammill means a lot to people here in Greece, his concerts are attended with an almost religious devotion and dedication every time he comes. I've seen audiences watch him in absolute silence, as if being in a church.
@ucsasmh He was known in stage theater because he wrote some stuff for older rock operas. The Who has some similar style during their Tommy album. People see this as a bit fem but David Bowie Ziggy has an element of this in it.
@ucsasmh If only people in America knew what PH means to all his admirers. I'm a 15-year old from Portland, Oregon, and Hammill's entire 70s output (not to mention VdGG) is among my most treasured listening.
I meant "Genius", not "Genious"! I saw Peter Hammill in Gouveia two years ago and I´m looking forward to see him again on April, 6th in Gouveia, Portugal along with Hugh Banton and Guy Evans. Long live Van der Graaf Generator!
