I've been to dozens of these protests (purely because I get off on riots, not because I have any political aspirations) and I can tell you 98% of these people aren't legit anarchists or activists. If the protesters were in violation of a law, then it would have been fair for the police to ask the protesters to move. But this was a legal protest (they had permission to protest). It is not (yet) illegal to take part in a legal protest and voice one's opinion in this country. It IS illegal for police to physically harm legal protesters (and JOURNALISTS, as they did at the RNC). If supporting free speech is "far left," then most Americans are far left, and Obama will win in a landslide.

If the protesters were in violation of a law, then it would have been fair for the police to ask the protesters to move. But this was a legal protest (they had permission to protest). It is not (yet) illegal to take part in a legal protest and voice one's opinion in this country. It IS illegal for police to physically harm legal protesters (and JOURNALISTS, as they did at the RNC). If supporting free speech is "far left," then most Americans are far left, and Obama will win in a landslide.

Many of the protesters were there to "trouble" the conscience of the RNC (and others watching broadcasts of the RNC). The police DO NOT have the right to tell people to "MOVE" unless there is a legal reason for them to do so. If a cop tells you to pull your pants down and kiss our own ass, would you feel compelled to do so? I am a liberal--the kind that believes that the Constitution actually means something. People who are practicing nonviolence are being pepper-sprayed, tasered, and beaten by overzealous law-enforcement officers. There are a handful of people who are protesting violently and destroying property, but the response from the cops is way out of proportion. Emotions are running high on both sides and the cops appear to be expecting the worst from people. Rubber bullets are nothing to joke about.

There were no protest like this at the DNC..it is sad that it had to come to this..very sad....and that fact that it happen speaks volumes.. about how upset people are with the way out government is run.
