I don't think we can blame this guy too much. An officer ordered not to fire on an escape pod a bit earlier. Tarkin also did let them escape in an effort to track the Millenium Falcon to the rebels. He could have killed them or captured them, and R2D2 could have been deactivated so that the plans couldn't have been received by the rebels. Had Tarkin known about the escape from Tattooine, he could have avoided destroying Alderaan, and just destroyed the Millenium Falcon. Counterproductive much?

Actually there's nothing funny about this. The particular Stormtroopers in question were given Imperial Psychotherapy (by Imperial Psychetroopers) which cost the empire between 4 to 5 hundred thousand credits. One of the poor Stormtroopers, after completing the 10 therapy sessions covered by his Imperial Insurace Plan (IIP), he was deployed to the first Death Star. In case you weren't aware, the Rebels somehow managed to destroy that battlestation, killing the Stormtroopers. As for the others...
