  • Wow this is the best video of fire and rain I've seen, he shows so much emotion in this video, he looks very sad

  • Thanks James great song!

  • One person hasn't seen fire and rain.

  • @TacoBunnyLand - having checked out a fair bit of JT, esp the Live double album it is a common thing this band did ie JT would set it up at what felt good for solo vocal and acoustic, then Carlos would put it where suited the band arrangements best. Check Live at Beacon version of Everyday. Steve Jordan pushes the choruses by ~3bpm and pulls it back for each verse... and it feels great. Click tracks are useful, but alot of music that feels great, and grooves, has been made without them.

  • Great performance but I like him much better when he is on the Smack. I love that zoned out, crazy James Taylor circa 1970.

  • That is a great sounding guitar in addition to his great heavenly gifted voice!!! does anybody knows what kind of guitar is he using on this video? thank you

  • @pulakuzku James is playing an Olson SJ model on this song. Thanks for watching!

    John

  • james ...has a way of singing the songs ..that relate to ordinary peoples lives{although none of us are ordinary ,but you know what I mean}...there is something in every line for everyone....a true Legend ,a complete once off guy....there will never be anyone like him again

  • I didn't know this singer !

Great !! I love a lot this song and his voice !

    Beautiful discovery !

  • THAT IS THE WORST COVER OF A JAMES TAYLOR SONG I EVER HEARD!

    O_o

    ROFL!

Great video, thanks for posting it!

  • Great song :) great performance :)

  • i swear he is saying suzanne the plays WE made put an end to you...

  • @BLSzepCFH he says "plans". it's very clear actually

  • Simply phenomenal recording. I too have heard this forever (I'm an old guy) but never like this. Lots o question like who filmed this it looks professionally produce. Who were the lucky sob's to be there? Personal friends of JT's? The Drummer Carlos is awesome.

  • 1 person was so emotionally touched that they went to rest their head to cry and accidentally laid on their mouse, which was hovering over dislike at the time. They then apologized profusely and left in shame.

  • I love this song so much and I just noticed when he sings"won't you look down on me Jesus" the camera is panning over to the bass player who is looking down on him and the dude looks like Jesus (with glasses). Cool!

  • The greatest song in the world!

  • one of my favorite things from this squibnocket video is the rendition of "you can close your eyes" at the very end. the stark simplicity, the raw emotion. just james and his guitar -- i love my dad.

  • Mint

  • love this version - thanks so much for posting it

  • I've heard this song so many times over the years but this version of it is so beautiful and means so much more to me now. It could soften the hardest heart, enlighten the weakest soul and make a grown man cry. Thank god for JT. Long live Youtube!

  • @littlesunny63 You just about said it all! Thanks for commenting!

    John

  • @littlesunny63 yep..makes me cry every time I hear it :)) bought a capo for my guitar just to play this song.

  • @littlesunny63 This song goes right from his lips to your soul.. rio and mag 4ever :) ;)

  • For you, my dear Heath. xo

  • Saw him in Brisbane Australia last night, have followed him since 1970, still buzzing from the performance, JT you are the greatest!

  • @frodothemighty I've seen him live twice and he puts on a great show indeed!

    Thanks for watching and commenting!

    John

  • I 've heard his songs throughout the years but just now they've gotten under my skin! Love his lyrics & guitarplay. I'm hooked.

    greetz from Belgium.

PS Is he ever gonna perform out here again?

  • So nice to hear this again... brings back good memories...

  • Best "groove" drummer that ever lived imho...CARLOS VEGA....RIP.

  • don grolnick and carlos vega....they were a crucial part of james taylor's band back then.

  • this is from squibnocket video, my fav video of JT. My fav drummer who died tragically.

  • Legendary ! My idol and the songs of my life . Thanks James .

  • i miss the days when there was more emphasis on the singer/songwriter and melody...this is absolutely beautiful.

  • @2bonus7 There shouldnt be emphasis on just singer/songwriter though..especially in a band where everyone plays their parts, everyone should get their credit. This wouldnt be the same without the drums or the piano. =P

  • I had a call last night telling me my dearest friend had died suddenly. I want to thank you for posting this, and James Taylor for putting my feelings into words.

  • I can't say all that I want to say about that! This man has influenced my life so much

  • man this is one of the best songs ever written. Way to go James!

  • Hi John, yes absolutely. Any chance of adding Copperline from the same dvd ? I really think that this is another classic version of a great track, and for those who have not seen or got the dvd, a performance to remember

  • @stolly57 I'll stick copperline on here this weekend.....

    RIP Don & Carlos

  • Maybe it's the laid back atmosphere in the barn, or maybe it's something else, but there is something magical, (for me anyway), about this particular version of one of JT's finest tracks. Many thanks for posting it.

  • I agree stolly, I thing the look at 4:20 says it all. Thanks for watching!

    John

  • @jrsn2cars Indeed, he still remembers after all these years.
