The sadness of the movie is about the loneliness of a young boy who have a set of parents who are absent from their sons lives. The phone call to the father was just heartbreaking. He did not listen to him and instead spoke about the mother etc. It is sad because children do suffer like this. Bullies and being ignored from their parents, no friends, is reality for some kids.

It's testament to the screenwriters, actors and director that we can be made to feel such empathy and almost kinship with a creature who murders just to keep herself alive. I saw the original before this one and surprisingly, I prefer the remake.
This movie is superb. Probably the only Hollywood remake better than the original just because the two leads are superb. And Elias Koteas is an incredibly gifted actor. The fact she is a vampire is almost irrelevant. This film tackles some really dark subjects. Wonderful film. The sountrack is magnificent.
somehow sad... he will grow older to be fetching her blood, then she'll find some new guy and all starts again from beginning... there is no actual story- or character-developement. Still the movie is in a awkward way touching... skip the vampire part, whats left are two adorable kids trying to fit in and get along.

Movie is just okay, but the original Swedish version (Let the Right One In) of this movie is far superior. The original vampire character is androgynous having been altered from a male when alive (one supposes by way of creepy imagery)..it's spooky, creepy and full of depth. This movie just isn't as compelling or spellbounding. Bit of a disappointment.
