The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) estimated the 1999 government share of total US health spending as 45.2% ($548 billion). I have no reason to believe government has spent any less in the years since. So again, less government. Not more.

The private sector is not stable enough for healthcare. Our own health is at stake here. Being a Yankee transplant living in the juicy red center of Tennessee, I can safely say that they portray the part of the typical redneck quite well. I too thought that the whole stereotype was bogus till I moved down here. On the contrary, I have met quite a few folks who are similar to the narrominded republican deciples that they portray to one extent or another. The fact of the matter is that we nearly have a national health care system now. The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) estimated the 1999 government share of total US health spending as 45.2% ($548 billion). I have no reason to believe government has spent any less in the years since. So again, less government. Not more.
