At first I hated it, and I'm still not sold on the idea of having 'rides' on a building. It looks like some kind of 1950s idea of futurism. However, the skylines of German cities like Frankfurt and Berlin have towers like this, and they look good, so it could sort of work. I think more than anything the industrial wastelands on the outskirts of Birmingham need to be knocked down and replaced with... just grass or something! That could be done for half the price, surely!

work is due to start in spring 2009 and be finished just over a year later. the the V building will be completed by 2012 in time for the olympics. so birminghams future is looking up, literally.
