I love this song so much. It is a most perfect love song. The music is sublime and the lyrics - wow. Such a great love song. Thanks for this perfect post.
THIS WAS A "PERSONAL" FAVORITE OF MINE - JIMMIE WAS AT HIS BEST ON THIS ONE - I HAVE MADE SURE I HAVE COPIES SO I'LL ALWAYS HAVE THIS TO PLAY - RECORD, TAPE, CD - AND COPIES OF EACH - LOVE THIS SONG. THANK YOU FOR PUTTING IT ON!!!
This is one EXTREMELY TENDER love song; I love this song so much. Wow, the lyrics are perfection as is the mustic and the voice. This is really a special song. So sweet and innocent, so evocative of its time. I've loved this forever. Thank you for this post.
I love this song! just recently found out this is the original though I had been listening to the Jamaican rocksteady version by The Uniques and the Mexican version by Enrique Guzman for a long time now
What a beautiful song...my mom played the radio all the time, so I was blessed to hear some of the lovely songs that were out when I was little. I remember this song from so long ago, but I had no heard it in eons. Thanks for such wonderful post. :)
Just heard this in my car and rushed to find it on yt, because I recognized the backup group instantly - none other than Ray Conniff. A Conniff superfan has posted Conniff's personal notes made on EVERY recording session in his 45 year career. But I don't even need to doublecheck - the unmistakeable Conniff 'sound' is there, loud and clear. That factored greatly in the success of this song on the charts! Ray Conniff KNEW how to make us love a song, he had made a science of it! Thanks MUCHO ! !
@chkjns I'm just amazing that you found this song on a current radio station in this day and age. Whatever radio station played this must be a bloody good one!
Hey tnx79 you said a mouthful. This is one of my favorite Jimmy Rodgers songs. It would be a # 3 hit on the billboard charts in 1958 & should have climbed to the very top. Its a shame that beaten by that LAPD officer curtailed his career. He stopped charting songs & I firmly believe his cracked skull injury caused him severe migraine headaches & the reason for his departure. He's still around probably in the State Of Washington somewhere. He definitely gave Elvis some big time competition!!
You are always growing and improving on your videos. You have worked very hard on composition and capturing the moment. You always have me guessing what is going to happen next. Great job Sundroid.
