The cop was trying to take order of the situation and he even explicitly said he would tase the guy if he didn't get back on the sidewalk, I saw it. I know this because I saw the tasing coming, thus why I filmed it. If you are going to willingly not obey the command a cop gives you then don't complain about getting tased nor the repercussions that comes with it.
taunting a cop in an uncontrolled situation like that could be really dangerous, depending on the nature of the taunting. i can only speak for myself: i've lived in gainesville for 4 years and had over a dozen interactions with the police here because i've been pulled over for not having a bike light at night, and i've been treated with nothing but respect and courtesy.

After recording this, I've lost some respect for some of the people that go to the Fest. I love all sectors of punk music, but I went to the Fest because of the diversity of sound it brings within many communities (whether punk, indie, metal, etc). Seeing this was a let down. THIS IS NOT ABOUT THE FEST. Yes, it happened during the Fest, but it was not an official Fest event, and I'm sure the organizers will take the appropriate steps to distance themselves from the mess. Don't worry about your music festival, boys and girls--there's something way more important at stake here; this is a matter of life and death.
They guy who was tazered repeatedly is lucky to be alive. Tazers kill, period. Cops overuse them and treat them like their panic button/fun button.

since it involved Festers and definitely wouldn't have happened w/o the Fest, i'm sure the police are associating it with the Fest, whether it was an official event or not.
the guy who got tazed is lucky to be alive, because most sensible people that have batons and guns would shoot someone who blindsides them like that. stop crying about being tased. it hurts, and it can be dangerous, but it's approved for a reason. probably safer than being kicked in the head and having bricks thrown at you.

I agree with one thing. Back up. I take the side of both parties. Its sad. Pulled off bike, beaten and tazed.. same thing happened in Pensacola not to long ago, but the guy who was tazed died. I was not there for either, and know not the truth about what went on but its just a sad fucking world we live in..

The cop was trying to take order of the situation and he even explicitly said he would tase the guy if he didn't get back on the sidewalk, I saw it. I know this because I saw the tasing coming, thus why I filmed it. If you are going to willingly not obey the command a cop gives you then don't complain about getting tased nor the repercussions that comes with it.

taunting a cop in an uncontrolled situation like that could be really dangerous, depending on the nature of the taunting. i can only speak for myself: i've lived in gainesville for 4 years and had over a dozen interactions with the police here because i've been pulled over for not having a bike light at night, and i've been treated with nothing but respect and courtesy.

were you there? because i was, and didn't see the cop punching or kicking him. after being blindsided by the kid in the video while trying to arrest someone else, the cop did tase him though. i don't see how a so called "logical person" could take the side of about 8 people kicking someone while he's down, but to each their own. i think the "punks" are taking the side of the cops because they agree that the 8 on 1 is complete BS and "punk" is about more than random, meaningless violence.

Man had a job to do. Like it or not he's technically there to stop people from getting hurt at his own personal risk. I dont know if you expected him to run away or what, but I can't imagine a cop just running away when there is still that kind of disquiet in somebody's NEIGHBORHOOD.

They absolutely do not represent the majority of the Fest crowd. They don't even buy passes to the the Fest. They just come to squat and stink up the sidewalk on University Ave and panhandle.

On the other hand, the cop could have had some medical condition, when they decided to take matters in their own hands, and killed the cop. Who would have given a shit then? It started because the guy who is getting tased threw a beer can at the cop car, the cop then took the kid down and tased him 7 times, though he wasent resisting arrest. that is why everyone started to beat the cop.

After recording this, I've lost some respect for some of the people that go to the Fest. I love all sectors of punk music, but I went to the Fest because of the diversity of sound it brings within many communities (whether punk, indie, metal, etc). Seeing this was a let down. The whole "let's hate the cops" deal isn't my thing, which is why I made sure to get this on video because being an asshole to the cops is stupid, not "punk." I'm hoping this doesn't destroy The Fest.
