@dangyouugly I was just thinking the elves were like the Jews. Their original kingdom conquered (Jerusalem), swallowed up by an empire (Rome), disdained by the religion that rose post-empire (Catholicism), made a minority in their own land, live in walled off areas (pre-WWII European Jewish ghettos), try to keep their culture alive despite prejudice. Heck, the Vhendahl and the arranged marriages mirror real Jewish customs.

But then, they also have shades of Romani, African and Native American.

i really liked the city elf origin. i played a female elf and i felt as good slaugthering vaughan's soldiers as I did killing the carta members on the dwarf common origin. I really, really liked shianni as well.

The city elf intro is probably middle of the pack quality wise. My personal favorites are the Human Noble and Dwarf Noble origins. The last part of the game is awesome when you're in Denerim as a Human noble and everyone recognizes you.

@SirSantpoort This is one of the three best (and it's better as a female than male character, slightly different story that way). The other two best are Human Noble and Dwarf Noble. Worst is Dalish Elf, second worst is Dwarf Commoner. Mage is decent, but nothing special.

The male and female intros are identical except that the nouns are replaced, i.e. "He, she". And instead of a male groom, you get a female bride. That pompous human asshole doesn't take you back to the castle, but instead he knocks you out, so you have to go and rescue the female elves. That's the male intro.

blood mage is an unlockable trait or class. an apostate mage would have a different beginning storyline and would offer shape shifting or something like that right at the beginning.

Blood mage is essentially an apostate. Shapeshifting is available as a shapeshifter but I do understand what you mean. You want to be able to start like morrigan yes?

Apostate is just someone who has put themselves out of the chantrys supervision. Regardless of what kind of class he is. Morrigan and Flemeth are both apostates for not being under chantry supervision. Blood magic is forbidden and therefore anyone using it becomes an apostate. Being hunted for use of "illegal" magic. Apostate isn't a class or something like that it's just the terminology for someone who isn't under chantry supervision. Word is derived from the medieval ages.

that isn't entirely true, apostates are mages hiding from the chantry yes, but mages using blood magic are called Malifecarem (not realy sure if i spelled that right).

@ThePixelChaos Dalish Elf is the worst, IMO. It's very short and bland. The Mage origin at least introduces you to the Fade and the place of mages in society under the thumb of the Templars, which I found interesting.

@bluechao Um, the City Elf origin is way shorter than the Dalish Elfs origin. (about one hour, actually) Except for the atmosphere, I was a bit disappointed. And as Dalish Elf, you get to kill Darkspawn during your origin... seems what people play first looks better to them than the rest.
