After watching it again, Waters of Mars shows exactly in every way why Tennant was the perfect choice for the Doctor. His acting is just incredible. The way he can switch his roles and moods (going from cheeky, to geeky, to suave, to depressed, to happy, to terrified, and now to ignorance, obsessiveness, and almost evil and insanity like the Master for just a bit), and not only does he make you believe what he is feeling, you actually can feel it too. I almost want to cry at the end.
Thanks so much - David is a super actor, i know for a fact he will be trying his luck in the USA soon, reading for lots of roles. I know your fellow countrymen/ladies will love him too.
The scene where the Doctor is trying to walk away in his space suit, and yet hears the crews' screams of pain and fear... that got me :( - you just know why he had to go back!
Thanks so much - The Timelord Victorious, only he is'nt going to be, not this time. A very 'end of an era' theme marbled this story. David was wonderful though:)
No he's not. Funny how the Doctor was understandably hesitant to share with Brooke of her demise, yet he's under the very same specter (w/o knowledge of the exact time). It's very telling and poignant that he so desperately wants to affect a change (back to "no one dies today"). That's the saddest moment in this special - his realisation he can't be the Time Lord Victorious - he has to follow the rules.
The Doctor was acting more like the Master, that he controls everything, and thinking he has the right to.
I also am now pretty sure what is behind everything, now from the preview of the next special . . . the Black Guardian! He is coming back from the Dark, he can resurrect the master, he can do so much damage.
Also, the knocker . . . it will be the Tardis's bell (dong dong dong dong).
Warning, may have spoilers, don't read ahead if you haven't seen it.
I just watched it, and it played out much differently than I thought. The Doctor seems to have snapped at the end, and I am sure this will have a huge part in what's to come. I think it was VERY thrilling. It was also so depressing seeing the pain from the Doctor through the whole story. When she kills herself in the end, it was so unexpected. I wanted to smack the Doctor and say, LOOK AT WHAT YOU ARE DOING! YOU ARE NOT A GOD!
i too enjoyed it , and i think it was very powerfull . the doctor has fallen in to conciquences, i rekon that the time lords will return now to see his regeneration ?
Thanks so much - I haven't been this excited about the conclusion of a Doctor's era in years. Its good that we have the Timelords returning, too many storylines were closed when they were killed off:)
this was a brilliant story! i especially loved the scene where the doctor stood in the entranceway watching the crew struggle to the keep the water from getting in. the way they filmed that in slow motion and watching the doctors expression was emotionaly powerfull.
Amazing ep but for me it brings me back to Remembrance and especially that scene on the issues with time travel. The episode brings back a mysterious plotting doctor playing a game of chess and proves for once he's more than just another timelord. Even 7's remark about the daleks not daring to tamper with time is proven and finally the doctor really does snatch immense hope from total cataclysm. Long live the timelord victorious.
Thanks so much Alex - I kind of hoped for an appearance from the Ice Warriors, especially as the mouths of the monsters looked similar.
Don't worry, all this will come back to bite The Doctor, he did the same in The Fires of Pompeii. The return of lots of angry Timelords to come, methinks:)
wow!!! i'd seen waters of mars and i was soo gobsmacked! its was so action packed & so scary in parts!! totall awesome!! 5 stars & thanks 4 uploading sparky!!
Agree with your views entirely, mate. The Waters of Mars was a classic episode. Easily in my top ten Doctor Who stories of all time.

Time Lord Victorious.....hmmm. I think I see traces of the Valeyard starting to appear in him and we're now only one Doctor away from finding out.

This was one of the better RTD stories. There was much less cheese than his usual stuff.
Dr Who going too far at the end ... setting him up for going too far and getting himself killed / regenerated.

One last comment, the music was wonderful. Especially at the end when you know who shows up. A beautiful piece of music.

Nice touch at the end was the sound of the cloister bell, it only sounds when there is impending danger - Thanks for your kind words:)

Thanks so much - Adelaide wanted to maintain her legacy, she was sensible enough to see our fav Timelord had gone too far this time.
Wonderful, heady stuff - David Tennant at his best:)

Haven't seen Waters of Mars, but did see the "official" End of Time trailer, and that one rather....see through moment....for the Master...yikes.
RIP Barry Letts.

It was a stunning episode.
That moment with Steffie was horrific. Oh, and Adelaide, oh no. :( Stunningly dark.
But what a corker - one of my favourotes of the new series. It makes Planet of the Dead seems a million miles away, now.
Is WOM considered a Dalek story? Hmm.
At the tribute to Barry Letts was wonderful.
Was Brian Cox's voice in the next time trailer? I shall have to investigate.

Thanks so much - A modern classic with sparkling one liners. The Daleks make a guest appearance.
I thought the voice over in the trailer was Timothy Dalton:)
