this guys a decent singer but i feel he dosn't fit the mold...song writing has something to do with it to.you can be a great singer but if vocal parts aren't writen big or catchy with good melody it really dosn't matter.I just bought it and couldn't even listen to it in my car out of shame someone would hear it...so yeah not very thrilled by this album
Iced Earth is my favorite band. I acknowledge that Iron Maiden was a great influence on Jon Schaffer. But, seriously, when I first heard this song I thought that IE have taken a song from A Matter of Life and Death, put Stu Block behind the mic and re-recorded it. Just does not sound like IE anymore...
i love this song so much. then today i picked up a new pair of earphones (the cheapest ones in tesco), they make it sound 10,000 times stronger (gotta love the reference :P ), it sounds like i'm in the front row of an insane gig!
Not crazy about this song, 'Anguish of Youth' isnt that good either. 'Soylent Green' could have used a better chorus, other than that, this album is awesome!!!
Just listen to drumming, especially when they sing "Time is on our side, we have prevailed..." It is incredible! Well, Jon Shaffer had always something to say in heavy metal. He wants to kick ass not only with music, but also with words. His texts have always been clever and touched important things. The text is missed many times during perceprion of heavy metal in media. For many it is only those hard rythms. Icead Earth is an example, that heavy metal is much more about than being heavy!
i didnt like burden, Armageddon was alright and crucible was ok too like i listened to them but thought last best album was horror show until now, freaking finally a album to be talked about for years and years
I enjoyed "The Glorious Burden", "Framing Armageddon" and "The Crucible Of Man". All were great in different ways, just like this new album "Dystopia". I definetely need more listens to let it all sink in and to let Stu's voice continue to grow on me. At first I wasn't sure what to think of his mid-range vocals, but now I really like it. His falsettos are mindblowing!
@iamawalker burden and armageddon were good but i didnt like crucinle. it seemed they were focusing on the story so much that they didn't work hard on the actual music.
@thewicked0310 lol. All Iced Earth songs make me happy. (Except for Melancholy, that song just produces anger and violence from me.) So I don't know what you're complaining about.
@thewicked0310 Dude. The song is about humanity being released from Setian control after generations of enslavement and walking free for the first time. Freedom is good reason to be happy.
@thewicked0310 they evolve.Get used to it,give them space to try new sounds and things.Although i think they are not ar from what they have been doing all these years. Many songs sound like that
There are some great parts to this song, but overall, a bit toooooo anthemic, which has been the curse of Iced Earth. An anthem here and there is okay, but some whole albums have been anthems, So, if from what I have heard and read, that this is pretty much the only anthem, this will be my favorite Iced Earth album(or CD as some of you peeps call it).
@willcharbarr The catchy chorus thing is part of Iced Earth's appeal. I don't get how big record executives didn't cash in on a monster band like them... Stumped. Real great song on a very solid album and Stu fits like a glove.
This is my favorite song on the album! Amazing writing in the lyrics and music. A song for the times :) I hope Schaffer knows our appreciation for his and Stu and the rests work!
and someone on herE a year ago said jon should retire cuz he didnt think he had anymore kick ass music in him...............dude your so damn stupid...stu fucking block was an excellant choice....we now have a crossbreed of matt and tim...the birth of the even more wicked STUCIFER

Are we sure this isn't Barlow in disguise? The resemblance isn't just uncanny, it's actually pretty ridiculous.

@zappafrank He can do both styles so easily, I call him "Ripper Barlow". :)
