cory's death was sad but it lead to something positive even for just a week, and that was the sense of filipino unity. we could further assess it by looking at the events that followed after her death: her son Noynoy's candidacy (w/ people having differing opinions on this) and the complete erosion of GMA's sense of delicadeza (wala nang moral force eh).

@saosean the massacre was also largely tragic, but again, the situation has to be seen in a negative and positive light. Negative.. ayan, maraming namatay, walang hustisya. Positive: The foreign media, and the foreign public (including governments) is now aware of the existence and danger of private armies.. hopefully they will watch these cases and help us bring them down.. so that they may fail ultimately. It's sad, but sometimes it takes something tragic like this to change the society.
