@SportacusChannel I beleive it's because Cirno thinks shes the strongest fairy now she's won the war and got really cocky and therefore decided to take on a human.

A lot of people give so little credit to Cirno, but you have to admit this is a pretty difficult extra stage. I don' t think it would even be doable (for most anyway) without the bullet freezing. Our little ⑨ is the only one who can handle it!

I like how ZUN is creative with his games. In Shoot the Bullet, you dodged the bullets that couldn't be avoided by photographing them. And in Fairy Wars, you freeze the bullets and even use them to block ray attacks.

@obachsk Usually in most Touhou games, you get Extra Stage by beating Normal without using continues. It might be the same for 12.8.

Dang, ZUN is not only trolling us the players, but he is DEFINITELY trolling Cirno with that last spell card from Marisa. Its like he doesn't want her to transcend much higher than your average, high-powered idiot fairy. Sadly, its a bit of a waste in my opinion, but at the same time, ZUN had to keep the "food chain" intact somehow.

At least Cirno snagged her own game...and Marisa is now in the ranks with Alice from back in the PC-98 era...

I beat all routes on Normal (3 diff endings) and the ending I got said I can go on "Extra Mode" However, when I check, it still says "Locked Stage." How do you get to the Extra Stage?

@jaysorbet There's actually six routes to the game, rather than three. You pick A/B/C at the main menu, then after Stage 1, each route offers two branches from there. Note that in the main menu when you highlight A/B/C, it'll show scores for A1/A2 or B1/B2 or C1/C2 to the left. The numbers represent which branch you took after Stage 1. Those are the six routes necessary to unlock Extra. If you don't know which routes you still need to do, look at your scores and figure it out from there.

Well Marisa said herself that she was taking Cirno easy(ofcourse that kinda screwed her a bit over). She was not expecting fairies to be that strong, someone probably gave Cirno some powers cause she said she "gained this new skill"

@Hawelo92 Backstory would be nice because the Touhou relationship chart isn't big enough yet XD. Also the more I play this the more I come to the conclusion of this being up there as one of my favorite touhou game.

- Spellcards are new, fun, and interesting (partially thanks to the ice powers allowing more to happen)

- I personally like the interface

- And the music is <3

- Ice is fun to play with and not to mention makes for a great scoring system regardless if ZUN had this in mind or not.

I LOVE the extra stage with passion, though. And if ZUN is taking this style into making the new games, then I can't wait for Touhou 13.

@EpixAura The numbers on the right are, from top to bottom:

Lives - getting hit by a bullet loses you 100%. If you drop to 0% after getting hit by a bullet, it's game over. Marisa flashlights will drop this number gradually to 0%, but will not make you game over.

Charge (same as the number on top of Cirno's sprite)

Bombs - like with lives, one bomb costs 100% (the snowflakes in the lower left corner give you a traditional itemized bomb count)

Experience - increases Cirno's shot level.

It is always amazing to see that people are able to clear the Extra Stages of new Touhou games in just a few days.

Even though you tell me that this is not your best run, I still must say that you did extremely well here.

Marisa's new theme fits her a lot better. I guess that's just because it's more rocking and mysterious, just like I always imagined her.

@regalstar The giant flashlights don't kill Cirno directly, but they chip away at her life percentage in the upper right corner. If you have a lot of lives and the flashlights go unchecked, you can lose a lot from them, though you still have to get hit by a bullet to game over even if you lose all of your life percentage in this fashion.
