  • You don't want to use olive oil, we are going to use vegitable oil..... We are going to add a little olive oil now lol

  • Great video, my question is can you eat the pumpkin after mashing it just like you would mashed potatoes and have you ever mixed mashed potatoes and pumpkin together? Thanks

  • Can you freeze extra puree in the freezer? Does freezing change the taste? How much puree does a small pumpkin yield?

  • glad you changed, muy calienteeeeee 2nd day ;-)

  • you can eat pumpkin everyday guys not just on halloween or thanksgiving -.- .... sighface americans

  • We hear about ppl eating pumpkin pie etc in the US, in the UK its not often eaten and we dont often see them in the shops other than halloween which is a bit of a waste of food. IMy neighbour grows them in her garden so Im guessing it must be possible and having eaten it once many years ago I know its good but never knew how to cook it, def didnt know to cook it in a steamer and peel it later or abput the seeds. Very educational. Thanks

  • 1) I wish you showed us how to insert a knife to cut it into half. I had to use a heavy duty utility knife to cut it open damaging my AUS 8 stainless steel blade.

    2) I did not know you can do something with the seeds, I just threw them away.

    3) I could hardly scrape anything from inside using my short kitchen knife as everything was so hard.

  • you said not to use olive oil but you kept saying olive oil instead of vegetable oil, just to let you know

  • Oh... so THATS what part of the pumpkin we're supposed to eat..

  • cool so after the seeds are cook u could is the whole seed edible

  • Nice instructional video.. Though might want to get a nice little tripod :)

  • to me your house kinda looks like shay carls home its sooo cool &thanks

  • Poor choice of pumpkin species. In Pennsylvania, which does not charge tax on produce, you must pay tax on this species because they are for carving and do not taste nearly as good as other species such as neck pumpkin, cheese wheel, or fairytale pumpkins.

  • Works well boss, good video, I'm about to roast the seeds now

  • I'm using this to make a pumpkin pie!

  • thanks for upload this..i did pumpkin puree soup before and had a problem with peeling the pumpkin and I get injured because of the hard skin. And just wonder how long you steam the pumpkin chunks to make the skin soft?

  • about 30-45 minutes. I prick it with a fork and if it slides out easy it is done.

  • thanks a lot

  • thanks for the tips

  • Lovely informative video :)

Quick question though, I've never really cooked with pumpkin, so how can you tel if the pumpkin is ripe enough to use? Like is it softer, or does it need to be a little green? Thanks.

  • If u were do buy pumpkin would u buy the pie filling or not it just pure pumpkin to make the cookies

  • nice shirt :D

  • Love the shirt! :)

  • Thanks for the great ideas...just wondering where did you get you stone cooking sheet and in the beginning of the video you had a slow cooker out...do you have pointer on whats best too cook in that too? Would love to hear and watch a video about. thanks and keep up the with the videos their awesome!

  • The stoneware is from The Pampered Chef, you purchase on-line from them. They are about the best baking stones out there. Also, the crock pot, I use it mostly in the winter for stews and chillis. I am going to make a white chicken chilli video in a couple of weeks. Thanks.

  • Don't you mean vegi oil not olive oil when you put the oil on the seeds?

  • Yes, I didn't catch it till after the video was uploaded. Sorry about that.

  • its ok =] I know what oil you meant to say.

  • Are you a wiccan?

  • I only ever steamed in a roasting pan covered with foil. But I think I like that stockpot idea you said better than the oven - that way the oven so it is free to bake other things...like dinner =)

  • is there anyway you could make them honey flavored?

  • How long do the seeds last in the oven?

  • she says about an hour

  • I wish you did this sooner. When I had pumpkins but at any rate I LOVE this video. VERY HELPFUL!

  • Great vid! But, sea salt is not just course salt, sea salt comes from the sea, thus we call it "Sea" salt. The salt in the blue box, comes from salt mines in the ground, mostly located in Utah near the salt flats. Sea salt is not as salty as mined salt and has a higher sodium content. The sodium content of sea salt is the same as the salt content of the human body. Just thought I'd share.

  • Thank you for sharing that info. I did not know that.

  • yummy thanx

  • Great video, love it.... Great job!

  • I did say Put some Olive Oil on the pan and the pumpkin seeds. I meant to say vegetable oil.

  • Ignore the whiny people who think you can only have pumpkin cookies before Halloween. I think this sounds like an excellent idea for snacking during Thanksgiving cooking prep. And now. And throughout December. I could absolutely overdose on pumpkin.

  • Thank you very much! Is there any way to flavor the seeds? Would that even work?

  • Sure. I had a message from a gal in Louisianna that said, they use garlic and creole seasoning. You can use whatever you want.

  • When I make pumpkin seeds, I add a tiny bit of salt and a tiny bit of nutmeg. It's super yummy!

  • Thanks so much, very informative!

  • I love your videos.. Thanks for them..

  • I know. That was the plan. I have a "real" job that comes first. Sorry.

  • how long did you steam the pumpkin for? and also where did you get your steamer, or what steamer do you recommend?

Oh and please show us how you are making these pumpkin cookies you are talking about! YUM!!

  • You can get a rice steamer at any store, it dosen't have to be an exspensive one. Target or any kitchen store.

  • i still have a pumpkin left can't wait to go try this! thank you so much! :D

  • Are you putting up the cookies? :D

  • I plan on making them tomorrow and the video will be up by the weekend.

  • you should have your own cooking show because you are amazing and you make things that i have never seen anybody make before......you should seriously consider trying to get your own show because you are awesome......i have made your chicken ring so many times i dont even remember........thank you soooooo much for making videos......you are amazing!!!!!

  • i second that

  • this vid needed to be up closer to halloween lol.

  • well no one really cooks anything pumpkin related for halloween, I think thanksgiving is more ideal but I see your point lol.

  • I agree. lol But it's all good. :o)

  • I know, that was the plan. The plan failed.

  • i think at 1:31 she means veggie oil

  • my dad and i make pumpkin seeds we do it differently but my dad has made them ever since i was little they are yummy

  • How does he make them?

  • for the past 2 years we havnt been able to make the seeds..im excited to make them next year:) thank you

  • can you store the pumpkin (after its been steamed) if so for how long?

  • Depends on how you store it. In the freezer or in mason jars will last a long time.

  • maybe a couple of days in the fridge. If you freeze it much longer, a couple of months. If you can it, usually a long time. Make sure you follow directions on how to "can" vegetables.

  • Yea!!!

  • MMMMMMMM. taaasty.
