  • I like this version too. Kill me, people!

  • NOT CLAPTON GET SERIOUS

  • Pfft. Clapton seems to thing he can cover anything. But this song requires skill that doesn't settle for mediocrity.

  • the best version of this song is from the great gary moore

  • this is clapton boring slow and has no soul way...... overrated

  • Great version of this song by Clapton; thanks for posting.

  • i personally like stevie's one better more feeling this one is just to soft

  • CLAPTON KNOWS HIS BLUES HE IS THE ONLY ONE THAT INCORPORATED

THE BETTER VERSION OF SKY IS CRYING BY ELMORE AND HOMESICK WHICH IS SUN IS SHINING INTO THE ALL TIME BLUES CLASSIC

PROBABLY MOST ENDURING BLUES NUMBER EVER

BOTH SUN AND SKY HAS CLOSE TIES TO THE SITUATION THAT HAPPEND

WITH ELMORE AND HOME SICK LIKE FORGETTING THE WORDS TO THE SONG

  • he did this song when I was born

  • fyi he had just kicked JUNK and if u don't know BLUES this is what it sounds like!!

  • The Sky is crying.............................

  • who is singing on this track, because that does not sound like clapton's voice, or am i wrong?

  • @koolkidc wrong. Tis Clapton

  • @koolkidc This is Clapton, he just has a more bluesy voice in this one.

  • The sky will be crying after hearing this version

  • clapton is a loser for doing this track

  • Clapton sing like he was 90 year old lool^^

  • butchered it.. lame

  • come on dudes, srv kicks this versions ass UP THE IRONS FROM LOUISIANA

  • Very reminiscent of the Roy Buchanan cover but typical of '70's laid back understated Clapton. Really nice wah wah slide though.

  • A bit disappointing from Eric, Stevie Ray's version far superior, But Elmore is still the King.

  • @Engineer109 I totally agree. Elmore is the shit, Stevie is another great, but Eric really disappoints on this one.

  • l love this version! Clapton is really unpredictable

and he puts a lot of feeling in what he plays.

As for the SRV lovers, i suggest you start listening

Roy Buchanan who is 10 times better than Stevie.

  • @clsi6 To be honest I had heard the name but never really listened to Roy Buchanan before, so I took your advice and look it up. I saw a live video "roy buchanan - the messiah will come again." I started to watch and didn't like it at first but I continued to listen -everyone deserves a shot right? And at exactly 2:15, I almost died from laughter, Roy Buchanan is a great musician, If you dont have sound on your computer.... As far as SRV, GREATEST BLUES MUSICIAN TO EVER WALK THE EARTH.

  • @footballphenom34 i had a listen to that guy after reading your comment... and your totally right , sorry clis6 but SRV is far superior to this roy buchanan guy. :\

  • @jericho4590 What a joke.

  • @footballphenom34 Ha good one!

  • i'm pretty sure most of you would prefer Eric's version over Stevie's had the latter been alive and the other dead, so shut the fuck up and enjoy

  • just because there's no fantastic guitar playing doesn't mean its not a great version. Both Eric and Stevie put emotion into their versions, and this one happened to be when Eric was at a bad time in his life. If you really care about the blues, this song should hit something inside of you.

  • STOP TALKING ABOUT SRV!

I love SRV the most, but this is a fucking Eric Clapton video, so stfu and listen to the frickin music.

  • I do like stevies version better, but, please, let's not hate on clapton.

  • Damn. I love Eric Clapton but this has got to be the worst version of this song I ever heard! Damn. :(

  • INTENDED TITLE FOR THE SONG WAS IT IS RAINING

HOMESICK TOLD ELMORE THE LYRICS BUT THE NEXT DAY AT THE SESSION ELMORE FORGOT THE LYRIC AND STARTED TO SING IT SKY IS CRYING INSTEAD OF REDO THEY SAID FUCK IT

  • Everyone either loves this song or hates this song, because it's lacking feeling and intensity.... but this song is a result of his long love for laid-back grooves, in the style of his main influences JJ Cale and Don Williams. If you're expecting a Cream-era blues, you're listening to the wrong artist from the wrong decade. Clapton is a chameleon in many ways, and appreciating this song takes a little perspective on his career.

  • I LOVE IT SOOO....................m..<3

  • @captainhaddock77, would you like ketchup with that hat or straight up?

Its on the Clapton record 'theres one in every crowd' from 1975!

  • roy rogers fuckin nails this on slide guitar awsome cover and devil got my woman, look over yonders wall.

  • fuck this is amazing.

  • kill whitey

  • I love how he played this song..

  • if this is eric clapton i will eat my fucking hat. sounds fuck all like his vocal and when did eric clapton play slide guitar. it's bullshit

  • @captainhaddock77 clapton has played slide for ages man his biggest influence was robert johnson check out stones in my passway. i dont even like clapton not enuf soul like elmore james john lee hooker and many other greats.

  • what do you by mean it has no feeling to it?!

you even think more clearly listening to this song.

it may has better versions, but it still doesn't make it bad.

    It's definitely a Eric Clapton's.

  • This version has no feeling to it.

  • clapton is god! I love this laid back version , thanks for the post

  • Gary Moores version 100 times better.R.I.P Gary.

  • @uploader486 - Some people make history; others just talk about it. You, junior, are all talk. Let me take you to school if I may. Take a trip over to Wikipedia and read up, son.

  • This is just Clapton's rendition. You have to remember, he's English.

  • This is not Eric Clapton!!!!!

  • @cottone592 ? you ok boss? clapton is one of my favorite musicians, he's the reason i play guitar. i was merely saying it didnt sound like him because the was covered at a time in his life when he was down.

  • @doolbro I did not say that this song suck. But is not good as the SRV version.

  • This is one of the best blues songs ever!!!! love it :)))

  • Who cares about the debate between Clapton and Stevie Ray Vaughan!?!? They both were very good friends, toured together and they ARE 2 of the greatest guitarists who ever walked the planet and doesn't matter who's better, to me the guitar icons are SO FUCKING AMAZING!!! The rest is history.

  • love the arrangement

  • i love this song,it's great!!!

  • Eric Clapton is too mellow for me :(

I want to FEEL the music like with Stevie Ray Vaughan

  • @doubleja

If you think Eric is too mellow, then listen to 'Early in the morning' off this cd...that song should change your mind!!

  • @LindyLousMusic

    Thanks :D.

  • check out roland duguay he can play and check out junior hooker hideaway its short but wicked

  • I'm disappointed.

  • this is truly clapton at his best .. puts hendrix, vaughan, A. King to shame ..Guitar and voice ..hard to follow.. WOW MAN!!!!

  • @aLinuxTV stevie and hendrix to shame...... you have no idea what real blues is then brother

  • @joobs27 oh come on. srv, hendrix or clapton? its like trying to deside whether you love best your mom or your dad

  • @shccer2

i love my mom the best.

srv is the best guitar player ever was and ever will.

    great tune though

  • @PeanutXGORE Ha I thought the exact same thing. I have never ever heard anyone that truly took me to their world like Stevie

  • @joobs27

I've never hear clapton open up and wail like this before ..truly a masterpiece. Hendrix and Vaughan

couldn't touch this shit....................... cuz it iz lol

  • almost funny

  • nothing wrong with his voice

  • @Margovallen: I also read his autobiography recently "Clapton". It is quite a story, and goes into many details of all the battles he has had in life. It is a great read, and I have much respect for him.

  • @Margovallen, I appreciate your perspective on this post. I do agree with you, he is a most authentic artist, and his music shows the immense depth of his heart and soul.

Two of my favorites on You Tube are these:

Eric Clapton & Steve Winwood Tough Luck Blues Omaha Qwest 6-20-09 Incredible Show !

Double Trouble- Eric Clapton & Steve Winwood MSG 02-28-2008

The second one is done at Madison Square Garden, and it is just amazing!

    Check it out!

  • The vocal is bad and the song is not good. I think this was early 1981, he was in and out of rehab this time.

He did much better after sobriety. Look for "Little Wing" in 2007, or "Voodoo Chile" with Steve Winwood on You Tube. Those are really good.

  • @cgabler91191 Many have covered this song... and this is the way EC felt it. His vocals and his guitar work are fabulously executed..... and if it all makes you think he was this or that, then he's done his job. Thats exactly what the blues is all about! :-)

  • @cgabler91191,

Why bad vocals? To say the song is not good is a pretty rough critique, it's bad why? Just askin', I'm not trying to be harsh.

  • @HughCarpenter Well, I would say it is my opinion on that song. I think you have a point, much like @margovallen said. There was a reason that he sang it in such a low key. I was comparing his approach to his versions of songs like "Have you Ever Loved a Woman", "Hard TImes", and other slower blues standards. He used more of a range of notes to sing those songs. I didn't mean to be harsh about the song. It was different that what I was used to hearing from him. Thanks for the post!

  • What have he done with this wonderful song?

  • Wow! I hate this!

  • @steveoneil78, Hate is a strong word.

  • @HughCarpenter I know. That's why I used it! : ) I don't usually use the word "Hate" but, in this situation, I was forced to.

  • or the original elmore james is the best

  • He musta had a Relaps during this song, wow it sucked

  • I think this is great... why not just like it as it is.. makes no sense to compare it to SRV

  • now i remember why i avoid clapton

  • @drscratchnsniff2 Well, I agree this version is bad, but Clapton is very good.

  • Johnny Lee Hooker, MUddy Waters, Elmore James, 'The Iceman' Albert Collins, The arkansas Gully Jumper himself Roy Buchanan. SRV was great but the names mentioned were WAY better than SRV would have imagined to ever have been!

  • the best version of this song is of stevie ray vaughan

  • everybody rip off each other tunes so shut up about that shit....and its not ripping off if you remaking it....wut a bunch of dumbasses......the ones that havent said nothing about ripping off this message doesnt go to you

  • i personally like this better than the SRV version. i can see why most people would disagree though. i just feel like clapton actually had the blues while recording this, and it shows. SRV killed the song in a completely different way.

  • I agree with the overrating of Clapton as guitarist

  • Clapton is hands-down the most OVER-RATED guitarist. Ever.

  • @TheDraeg Man, you can`t even say that, listen to his fills, there brilliant. Just because he doesnt play fast doesnt mean overrated. He`s hits the notes. Perfectly. Read his book. You`ll find that out.

  • I am mostly used to SRV's passionate version of this song especially done live. But Mr. Clapton is Mr. Clapton and this is the way he feels the song. Good to hear different approaches to the same music. Thanks to all the greats and thank you so very much Mr. Elmore James!

  • I like Clapton, but this is shit! SRV is Amazing, and this isn't even close!

  • @MrMikenotts01 Now who is the racist.

  • @MrMikenotts01 Completely not true... When I hear clapton I KNOW it's Clapton.. He is very unique in his playing.

  • @MrMikenotts01 like the blacks dont rip off white tunes???????

  • is that clapton singing? how messed up was he?

  • @doolbro VERY messed up I would be willing to bet.!?

  • @doolbro Sounds like he's had a few too many sleeping pills. I mean, Clapton is still awesome and all that...it's just he sounds pretty stoned on this one for some reason. The funny thing is, Clapton was theoretically one of the people who could have possibly been in SRV's seat on the helicopter that SRV died in, had a few last minute changes not taken place among various band members of Clapton's and SRV's (who all took several helicopters together at the same time when SRV died).

  • this is just perfect

  • He sounds like he is drugged or really tired. No where near the emotion and soul that Stevie puts into this song.

  • nothing compared to Stevie Ray Vaughan. NOTHING.

  • @uploader486 SRV is a guitar 'wanker' meaning he loves his own sound too much he can't leave any gaps between the notes. no soul no blues

  • @Gobshite1980 hahaha you don't know what you talking...

  • @uploader486 Idiot you can't even finish sentences? American educated I'm guessing. Look if you love SRV that much why don't you go and bum him? I've heard he likes fudge packers and scrotum jockeys you'll fit in well.

  • Comment removed

  • @uploader486 UR EXACTLY RIGHT, NOT EVEN CLOSE

  • @uploader486, the song's originally by Elmore James, so why compare it to Stevie?

  • @uploader486 but SRV aint nothing compared to Hendrix...... ALbert kills this way better than srv too..... this version sucks..... i dont get why ERic clapton would release this version with such a weak vocal

  • @codehendrix i think hes on a voice stealing drug

  • @uploader486

You got that right. srv is the best. He died way too early.

  • @uploader486 You're comparing apples to oranges. Try listening to the original.

  • @uploader486 Vaughan is good

  • Thanks for posting!

  • That's Right um um mmmm

  • anybody tell where i can download the lyrics to this song please.?

  • Google, buddy. Just copy and paste into a notepad document, then save and print if needed.

  • lol dude its the same lyrics as stevie rays.
