Interesting to know the wild edible Camas is good to eat. I would be interested in knowing more about the history Camas. Perhaps Heidi's book has something to offer. Thanks for sharing.
@denali525 Yes, camas used to grow throughout the Pacific Northwest as a primary food source, used like we use potato today. Fields of camas were maintained by burning for generations. After settlement and agriculture most of these 'prairies' were turned into pasture, and in many areas, such as around Puget Sound most of these prairies were extirpated. Many areas still have camas thriving... where do you live?
