My GAWD, listen to ALL that's going on in this tune, it's mindboggling how Beck makes it all come 2gether and not sound like theirs too much goin' on, which if this were tried 2day would be WAY overdone! ;o)
These two album's R&R.,and the JEFF BECK GROUP had alot of soul motown riffs speaking: Saw, These guy's at CARNEGIE HALL ,N.Y. IN 71-72.. INCREDIBLE note for note ,Performance of Both Album's .....
Given the brilliance of the musicians gathered here, and for too short a time, and the lack of promotion (airplay of 7 great tunes) of "Rough and Ready,' sadly, I believe that more musicians listened to this complex combination of blending different instruments with each one sounding as if they are out front in each song, at any time, than those who bought the album or 8 track.
I couldn't agree with you more. I was always flabbergasted that this particular Jeff Beck Group arrangement never got the full credit and exposure that their 2 masterpieces rightly deserved. It's one of the great tragedies of R and R.
However, I got them both on CD and will never give them away. My friends and acquaintances get to hear them from my car and home stereos, much to their delight.
He is still alive and kickin'! He just put out an album not too long ago. Just Google him and go to his official site for the latest news. By the way he was and is a very highly respected and sought after keyboard player and composer!
I went out and bought this Lp on a very cold, and wet, Dec. 1, 1971. Played this opening track and I thought to myself, Jeff is definitely YEARS ahead of everyone else.
You're right! He kind of got lost in the sauce of the other two of his famous Yardbirds trio. Throw in Jimi Hendrix and he wasn't given the credit back then that he deserved for the pioneering creativity that I think was even a notch above those others. Don't get me wrong were talking rare air here but he's on top in my opinion!
Yes, I agree with what you said, and we're not the only ones who feel that way. Just ask Jimmy Page, Les Paul, Blackmore, Clapton, and quite a few others. Hendrix had high regard for him, too.
@ tantofunghi Max Middleton played on at least 1 Zappa album, and I'm sure played for tons of other leaders and composers of the ilk

Yep. I got this album when it first came out on vinyl. Later, I bought it on CD.
It never gets old. I like Jeff with this particular group the best.
