Is there any better recording? Awesome performance! Too band FNM didn't played it like this on second coming tour, they just chopped out the most heavy part of song..
@ollecarlsson i just listend to this band your speaking of and they kick ass!! but i think its pretty rediculous to accusse them of such nonsense.. trust me dillinger are amazing, give them a go :P
Dillinger is a sick band but they're so lucky to have gotten to play with Patton. I saw them live with Greg Puciato, he went fucking nuts running on kids heads and shit. He got in the pit with us it was awesome.
get yourself a fucking science book.. this song was written in 1992. i don't know who the fuck jeromes dream is, but im pretty sure they weren't around in 92.
defuse73, I was assuming by your "CUNTFACE" insults that you must be about 13 years old, until I clicked on your name and saw that you're actually 35. AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!!!
this show was supposed to be played in NYC at the Roxy during the 02 I believe Halloween Geek Show tour but they cancel their contract and went with another musician...some DJ I don't know point is I MISSED THIS SET FUCK THE ROXY!!!!
IN-FUCKING-SANE, Patton's talent and spontaneity appears to be just boundless. Thank somehow for his workaholic tendencies to just continue to make music with countless artists, from performing operas in Europe to the numerous solo shows with Rahzel and other artists, to all the albums/shows he performs with his collaborators alone makes him a genius of some sort.
Vastly and ungodly underrated, here's hopin Patton has many years in music left to work in...
One of Mike's first masterpieces. I hear the original keyboard parts from the FNM version during the quiet break in the middle, but I figured Mike probably played those in the first place, as well as the guitar parts. DEP rocked it like it was the last song on earth - lovely!
Great song, awesome band. I can´t say much about TDEP and PAtton, they are just great. And like someone mention here, whoever saw this live should feel very f**n lucky!.
I love Patton's work, that's why I watched this, and I just saw an RHCP/FNM argument going on, made the simple suggestion that I believe FNM COULD'VE been inspired by RHCP's early work, and all the Patton fanboys were like, "No! RHCP sucks!" I mean, shit, u all love Mike for being an innovator, do u think he got that way by hating things just cause someone he likes hates them? All I'm saying is both are talented, I just prefer RHCP, no need to be a dick about it.
Do they really claim that? That's lame. Not even close to the same bands. One was awesome and the other one steadily declined into putting out garbage like "Snow"
Why do "rappers" always end up trying to be singers? Anthony Kiedis, Fred Durst - I'm calling you out. Patton (and Chuck Mosley) could sing out of the gate. Well, Chuck could kinda sing...
BSSM hasn't stood the test of time? lol, now I know you have no idea what you're talking about. If you're going to be a Patton fanboy, at least admit to yourself the facts. BSSM still gets a considerable amount of airplay. FNM only gets airplay in Grand Theft Auto.
Who'd want to listen to the opinion of someone that doesn't like a band because he's a Patton fanboy, and wants to agree with everything he says? I like RHCP and FNM, but you FNM fans have gotta just be threatened by RHCP's sex appeal. Seriously, BSSM is a bad-ass album to have sex to. Get laid instead of trying to feel all complicated and elite, and I promise you'll love the Peppers.
Sex appeal is VERY important when weighing good music! I'm not obsessed with Patton, but he pushes it, instead of relying on formulaic pop, and I repect him for that.

I think Mother's Milk is RHCP's "FNM" record, and imo, it owns everything FNM tried 2 do. Listen to "Johnny Kick a Hole in the Sky," "Nobody Wierd Like Me," or "Taste the Pain". Those songs 2 me are like wrapping the best of FNM into a bundle.BSSM is my fav RHCP album, but I think even FNM fans can appreciate MM, maybe UMPP. I know music/technique, but music is for feeling, not studying. It's good to learn tech to know what you CAN do, but it's shit to feel obliged to apply it all.
The same melody? I've listened to all of FNM, but how much RHCP have you listened to? FS, UMPP, MM,BSSM, OHM, Cali, BTW, to a lesser extent, Stadium, all have different sounds. The latter 2 aren't my thing, but they're still different. They do use the 4/4 tempo almost everytime though, but when they diversify the way it's used, you'd have to count music more than you listen to it to notice. FNM just sounds like they're trying to hard imo. Midlife Crisis is 1 of my fav songs of all time though.
I have my suspicions that you're 12. I mean, "FNM is better cause RHCP SUCK!" Come on kid...Have your own opinion, but you're stating that shit like it's fact. RHCP are fucking awesome, FNM aren't my thing (though Bungle and Tomahawk is). Much respect to FNM, but in my eyes Mother's Milk and BSSM are un-toppable by any band. No need to be a dick.
I didn't forget that, JNerdy. I've been a Patton collector (though Bungle and Tomahawk are all I'd call myself a fan of, Fantomas was just heavy guitar, wierd vocal technique, then samples over and over), but we're talking about the beginning, in which Patton could've been influenced by Kiedis. Imo Patton>Kiedis in musicianship; Kiedis>Patton in melody or rap (BSSM, of course)
Keidis is nowhere even close to being as talnted or as consistantly fresh and original as Mike Patton on his worst days. Kiedis is just some worn out junkie from Los Angeles who wore out his welcome too long ago.
RCHPMV, the one thing you seem to forget is who has had more of a long standing precense as an influance to bands? The Re Hot Xhilli Peppers, who have only been good for a short time in history (the early 90's, after which, things go stangely down hill), or Faith No More, Mr. Bungle, Fantomas or any of the other 1 million bands Mike Patton has been/is currently involved in?
i won't argue that anthony was the douche in the patton/kiedis feud, but fact remains, RHCP created a lot of buzz at least in the Nor Cal area, and it is very possible that FNM owned RHCP's debut and became greatly inspired by them. I love Patton's work, but come on, the video/singing for "Epic" is almost like finding video footage of a kid dressing up like mommy.
to all the people saying Faith No More formed before RHCP: yes, FNM formed in '82 to RHCP's '83, but RHCP started coming out with albums first, who the hell heard of FNM before We Care Alot? For all anyone knows, they were influenced by RHCP. RHCP's 1st:'83 FNM's: '85. Which came first?
but their first album was a commercial failure... so how would that work? even their second album was just as big as a failure. rhcp and faith no more's breakout album came in 1989. unless mike patton was looking for obscure bands to claim he received influence, he should have found more obscure.
they just both developped their own style and it happened to be similar. it was anthony kiedis who went to a faith no more's concert and said that patton was copying him and be all bitchy to faith no more. kiedis is just a fuckin douche.
mike patton is the sheeyat. so popular, yet soo underground. his vocal scream/yelling is insane and is just such a pure expression of whatever he's lyrically singing about. great vocal composer.
i wish mike patton stayed with dillinger, even though it was a temp thing. i dont know hes so talented, i think i would enjoy tdep more than i do. to me tis is a tease.
Actually the first Rap-Metal crossover band (Urban Dance Squad) , was formed in the Netherlands. and due to an Urban Dance Squad performance, RATM was formed.
mike pattons band faith no more released the most influential rock / metal album of the nineties (angel dust). rage against the machine made the rapping over metal concept acceptable to the mainstream, but faith no more were the ones that influenced most of the bands that chose to rap over metal and more.
seriously they've been around before rage. they even got booed off stage by metallica fans in 88 for having the audacity to rap over metal. there is so much more to them then just that though. they've influenced loads of bands from dillenger escape plan to slipknot, korn to incubus, the red hot chilli peppers to marilyn manson, you get my point.
and besides dillenger like most bands have loads of different influences. they did a cover of aphex twins come to daddy. oh and there's a split they did with mike patton. twas the only thing they did that they actually saw some financial gain for (their record contract leaves a lot to be desired).
great band. i really should buy miss machine soon.
Mike Patton influenced everybody. He is responsible for every form of music. He's actually been around for centuries. He drinks the blood of virgins to stay immortal. So Burt Bacharach, Justin Timberlake, Frank Sinatra, Slayer,....they all ripped him off.
nah listen to dillingers new album, its not a mike patton rip off its more like patton, imo, although i personally can see patton influences Dillinger is more like traditional Hardcore bands than not
Is it just me or ire Malpractice and Jizzlobber possibly the best two songs FNM wrote and they hardly played them live! Damn! Caffeine on the other hand is awesome and they played both times I saw them. And I did see Mr Bungle during Disco Volante and California tours and it was incredible both times!
This is fucking awesome. Mike rules. Way better than Greg. Me and some friends met Dillinger 3 or 4 years ago and they were all really kool except Greg, who was a total fucking dickhead.
With DEP's senseless/violant music and Mike's crazy vocals, the perfect mix. I know he was there before Gregory or whatever his name is....sorry, lol. Like the DEP's experimental performances.
I love Dillinger, but I think in some way this shows how much they're influenced by Patton (in particular everything he did with Bungle). Patton is beyond fucking genious. And yo, iwudeatpattonsshit, Cuckoo for Caca did have some kick ass screaming.
I know some people dont like it when Patton screams hysterically, but I feckin love it. I think its one of his great talents. A shriek that could make a banshee piss herself.
The crowd roars.. They ruined and repaired me... The rest you know. The hands ripped out the bad thing! Miiiiraaaacle!! Man... What an awesome find! Thanks for posting this!
Is this from a new years show in San Francisco? I think I was at this show. I kneow I went to one Ipecac new years show where DIllinger and Mike Patton played together.
Such an awesome cover, the dillinger guys do faith No More proud. Factoid, Mike Patton also wrote the music for this when in Faith No More also, no the Angel Dust LP
When Mike did this song with FNM on Angel Dust, it was sooo god damn far ahead of it's time; it got no kudos at first. But of course he's always ahead of his time, that's why he's underground.
lol Underground, i used to think the same...just go look at Genral Patton vs x- custwhat ever i cant spell for shit, get up punk. underground, yeeeeeeh boooooy get down wit yo baaaad self.
He should have threw in a few fantomas Shreeks and growls and that towards the end i reckon, still not really complaining lol
Those screams sound like my Nightmares!

He's probably activating samples from the song with keystrokes, hence the touching of the keyboard. I doubt he's just doing it to look cool!

Great song off of a great album. Performance was flawless. Did they do any other FNM songs?

I would still give my masturbating hand to see mr.bungle live. Especially during the disco volante period.

Faith No More never played this song live. And 10 years after Patton wrote the only time ever played live is with DEP. This is a great moment.

Fine art. Great combination. Good taste. Nice noise...! Big performance.

With DEP's senseless/violant music and Mike's crazy vocals, the perfect mix. I know he was there before Gregory or whatever his name is....sorry, lol. Like the DEP's experimental performances.

Patton is genious!

I love Dillinger, but I think in some way this shows how much they're influenced by Patton (in particular everything he did with Bungle). Patton is beyond fucking genious. And yo, iwudeatpattonsshit, Cuckoo for Caca did have some kick ass screaming.

FRom what I understand this is the only time :malpractice: has been played live EVER

I know some people dont like it when Patton screams hysterically, but I feckin love it. I think its one of his great talents. A shriek that could make a banshee piss herself.

When Mike did this song with FNM on Angel Dust, it was sooo god damn far ahead of it's time; it got no kudos at first. But of course he's always ahead of his time, that's why he's underground.
RUNRUT 5 years ago
lol Underground, i used to think the same...just go look at Genral Patton vs x- custwhat ever i cant spell for shit, get up punk. underground, yeeeeeeh boooooy get down wit yo baaaad self.
He should have threw in a few fantomas Shreeks and growls and that towards the end i reckon, still not really complaining lol
