  • If a chorus was EVER able to pull this off, it would be a sure win for a swan song. LOVE IT!

  • Totally AWESOME...!

You have a fantastic counter tenor voice. Perfectly suited to this kind of barbershop.

    Love it.

  • Superbly done! Thanks for posting! Alot of power throughout the entire song. :)

  • Perfect... This must be the 20th time i've watched this, and I'ts just amazing!

  • I came back here just to leave a comment and say how beautiful and inspiring this video is, it's probably the 30rd time that I watch, and it gets better and better. This is a masterpiece, man. This is truly a perfect tag.

  • MIND BLOWN!!! now!

  • you're a genius!!!!!!!!

  • Hi Jay, this is about the 10th time I've come back to listen to this. If you want to dress up as a woman and pretend to be around 50 years old, I would marry you. X

  • @riverrun1...it's the name of a chord. :)

  • My hands are shaking, I have goosebumps, I want to cry. That was the most beautiful thing I've ever heard.

  • Marry me? LOL!!!!!

  • I keep checking on this video and hope and pray every time that it had magically jumped ahead of any of Justin Bieber or Kanye Wests videos. :(

  • Who ARE you??? This is so beautiful and so original and just amazing! You're an exceptional talent, thanks so much for this!

  • THAT was genius. You are a god among men.

  • Great voice

    Great range

    Great arrangement

    Great idea

  • dude! absolutely amazing job!. i think Tim Waurick has a run for his money ;-)

  • @ljtubbs No doubt about it, Lee. Jayson, you're great man!!! Love this recording! - Tim W.

  • 4:20 - 4:45 is SWEET. And then the Graham 9th at 4:48... heaven.

  • @thebl00per Just curious ... "Graham 9th"? what does that mean? :-)

  • Wow. You are amazing, I wish I could do this. I consider myself a pretty good singer, but I def dont have this kind of range..

  • made my horrible day amazing. Thank you.

  • Who arranged this? Awesome!

  • This is so awesome!!! I can't stop listening to this. Can you tell me who's chart is this? This is one reason I love music! Thank you!

  • Sounds like The Beach Boys meets Barbershop!

  • I'm Jewish and all... But I'm still convinced you're Jesus.

  • I just don't get it.... Y U have so few views!? This is really amazing!

  • hey, is this on itunes???? I'd like to buy it!

  • you sir have an amazing gift, its things like this that keeps me in love with music

  • *shiver* chills dude. chills.

  • Westminster Chorus, watch out!!!

  • This is amazing!!!

  • how much free time do you have, that you can immaculately harmonize your own voice 31 times? holy cow, this was very well done.

  • "Sniff"....So amazing :D

  • Bravi

  • Hey man, I could be wrong, but I don't think there's a difference in audio quality between 360 and 480. Any chance you have capabilities to upload in HD? I know the audio quality changes when it gets to 720p and higher.

Your videos are great already, this would be one way to get even more out of them!

  • That was flipping amazing great job man!!

  • Do you have music for this? Could you send it to me? PLEASE?

  • This was a very risky song to do. I am a huge fan of movie sountracks, especially the Sweeney Todd one. I also thought this might have sounded a bit strange in a choir set-up. To be honest, this was really good. I love how your passion in the music started out strong, but it just kept getting stronger, and that is the most important thing in music, i think; is the passion you put behind what you are playing/singing. Well done.

  • This is brilliant man! Amazing work!!!

  • THIS IS FUCKIN AWEOME AS HELL DUDE!!!!

  • This just makes me smile!!! One of my favorite musicals and this version is just incredible!!!

  • This is amazing omg

  • Goosebumps<3

  • I'm impressed that you can hit every one of the four parts! This is very creative, artistic, and well made. Congrats! I'm going to share this with all my old a cappella buddies :)

  • are you singing with a chorus and/or quartet?

  • This is beautiful. I don't care how you made it, or that I'll never get to see this "chorus" in person. I wouldn't mind more of this kind of thing... :D

  • Nice arrangement. has a Beach Boys ballad feel. And that's a forehanded compliment. :)

  • Comment removed

  • How did you make this ?

  • saved my love life :)

  • @dmoneyy3829 Now you have to help me out with mine. :)

  • @dmoneyy3829 Mine too. Thanks for this!

  • one word .....................epic!!!

  • Same here, I'm just blown away by this every time I listen to it and I've been listening to it for months now, I love, love, love it beyond words x

  • I can't stop listening to this... the tag is soooo good.. awesome chords

  • this is so cool

    mmm iv minor haha

  • You folks need to stop your flame wars and listen to the music. It's sheer brilliance!

  • I listened with my laptop speakers and it was still beautiful. Your art is brilliant, you're special, and it shines in your music. I would love to hear a "Wicked" tag from you - I'm sure you know it? I know it's cliche, but your own arrangement of Defying Gravity would be fascinating to listen to.

  • What arrangement is this? It's gorgeous.

  • duuuude. fkn sick! especially at 4:28

where can I find the arrangement?

  • Comment removed

  • Seriously this is one of the best works I have heard on Youtube since I joined. You and Ronald Jenkees have been my favorite video uploaders. Keep it up bro!!!

  • The harmony at 2:40 is very nice:)

  • fantastic where is this arrangement i want it

  • Great job! I really like the chorus effect and think I will try it myself on a future multi-track video.

  • Favorited :)

  • Fantastic job! Also, I enjoy your responses to the less than polite comments. I think the less musically inclined do not realize the monumental task it is to create a 32 track song and maintain balance, intonation, diction. It takes a ton of hard work plus true raw talent that you are either born with or not. You obviously were born with an amazing ear and sense of pitch, and I am so utterly impressed (as usual). Keep making music, you inspire so many people. Kudos from a fellow EWVCer.

  • Hi I just signed up on YouTube just so that I could write comment here :-) I love it, love it, love it. I would love to see you do Samuel Barber - Adiago for Strings ;-) but then I remembered that it was mostly instrumental :-)

  • @bonafides13 There is a choral arrangmet of the Adagio for Strings. It's on the text of Agnus Dei and it's AMAZING!

  • @musicmakerscott You made my day. That is what I was looking for. Thanks a heap my friend.

  • This is amazing. Simply amazing. Excellent job on this!

  • wow....this is amazing...never seen anything like it....this has got to take some talent =)

  • beautiful job Jayson!

  • I don't care what anyone says, I think 4:23 and forwards kicks ass! Although some people might have a problem with you screaming your guts out, some things are just meant to be that way =)

  • Dude, I can fall asleep and wake up both while listening to this. I will be prepared to sing said song at international.

  • Holy shit. That was beautiful.

  • Still listening to this 4 months on and it still takes my breath away. One of the most talented singers out there. Well done Jase.

  • Stunning!

  • This guy deserves so much more attention

  • @henninggangso Oh God I couldn't agree more, this guy is pure genius. Please check out his other posts, you will be in awe. I'm so glad you've found him, as I am I swear.

  • @02Jonah i know, he's amazing. you can tell how much work he put to this, he had to do the whole song many times and , you know, figure out what to sing in each. kind of hard to explain, but it's amazing

  • Love all those men singing me that beautiful song! Little eye scratch one of them did, so cute! I just feel like no one is gonna harm me! Nice lullabye. THANKS!

  • 4 voices would probably be better, I feel like there is too much happening here. Never the less, still way more amazing than anything I've ever done/heard!

  • excellent. The mind goggles!

  • OUTSTANDING!!

  • Pause at :54, look at the one that's to the right of the one to the extreme top left

  • This doesn't have nearly enough views.

  • WHAAAT! easily the best thing Ive ever seen on YouTube. How r u Not Famous and On Ellen yet?!?

  • how do you afford 32 microphones?

    :P

  • @rehpotsirhic was that a serious question? because if not what he does is he records one vid at a time and puts them all together to produce the major harmonies lol its pretty amazing though i agree

  • @DrewBenudiz haha, I wasn't being serious, hence the :P face afterwards XD

  • Excuse me, this should be viral by now...

  • This..was..amazing..

  • What programs do you use? I've got a Mac and have been just fooling around on Garage Band to not much success. Seem to be having issues tuning to myself (I know it sounds funny). I'm sure I'm missing some basic effects as well no doubt. Help please?

  • 3:56

    Goosebumps!!!!

  • Seriously. Anyone who doesn't understand how brilliant this is has no clue how talented this dude is and how long it takes to do something like this. It's not just the recording, which took hours and hours to record just the 32 takes he kept; what about the arranging and the rehearsing? I'm beyond impressed... more like completely Inspired and simultaneously feel like I've been sent packing back to the Minors.

THANK YOU for sharing your talent with everyone.

  • WOW....you have an incredible voice, where can i get sheet music for this?

  • @ChoirNerdsUnite Jeremiah Pope did it... Find him on Facebook?

  • @jmittsinger thanks, do you a website where i could buy the sheet music?

  • :DDDDDDDD

  • I love you.

    No homo.

  • Jayson, you've done it again. Your videos should not be legal...

  • O.O I might have just jizzed my pants in excitement from your voice ;) Extreamly well done.

  • Anyone know where I can find this arrangement?

  • Ahh! I love this. This is so pretty. I love it.

  • @Barbershop666 Sorry if this has already been asked before, but is this score available anywhere? Really enjoyed it!

  • I need to get back to NVP just to sing this song!

  • i showed this to my choir class. They have a history of thinking that their low numbers is an excuse to not sing right. After seeing that one person could do something like THIS, they wanted to find out how much eleven people could do. None of them are as talented as this guy here, but it finally got them to try. thank you!

  • oh how i miss talking to your silly face.

i hatechu for never visiting me. fagggggg, >:|

but i forgive you since you sang this so lovely :P

  • I have been watching your videos all night. I found your page linked from an auto-tune the news video. What you do with these choir pieces is what music was meant to "FEEL" like. I have goosebumps and I can't stop listening. Your gift my friend is one that even after the 17 years I have been playing music I am in complete awe of. Perfect pitch, Incredible range, Impeccable timing. Fantastic all around. Keep it up man I want more!

  • I cannot tell you how many times I've listened to this, it's countless, and it takes my breath away every time. You must be very proud.......be very very proud x

  • I subscribed. Very very impressed to say the least.

  • one of the best song ive ever heard hope my quartet can ddo this one day

i must listen to this about 10 times a day xD

  • Whoa... well done indeed. Make more, many more...

  • This is much better than your previous tags! No doubt it's because of the choir like effect to get rid of the balance and intonation problems...But this is great regardless.

  • @LegendaryCloud89 Thats got to be the most back handed compliment I've ever received! Thank you!

  • @Barbershop666 Honesty hurts sometimes

  • @LegendaryCloud89 I'll mute 28 of the tracks, export it as a quartet, and send it to you! Sounds the same except 4 voices. :)

  • Comment removed

  • @Barbershop666 If it's not to rude, I would love a copy of said quartet file, please? If it's possible I could obtain one from you, I would love you forever.

    Also, absolutely amazing stuff. :D

  • @Barbershop666 Does it really? I want a copy of that haa

  • @LegendaryCloud89 Hey! I just did my first 2 multi tracks.....What do you use to get the great matching pitch and have the tracks so smoothly together? IS that a VST effect? What software did u use? I have tried Audacity - SUCKS, Mix Pad - SUCKS......Sony - SUCKS! lol

  • @KristalynJ Who are you? And believe me...I never said he didn't do a good job, but the right equipment makes a big difference :) (Clearly holding a nice microphone there)

  • @Barbershop666 It's called a "Compli-sult" a compliment and an insult at the same time. I just made up that term..... That a "brag-splination".

  • @Barbershop666 Hey! I just did my first 2 multi tracks.....What do you use to get the great matching pitch and have the tracks so smoothly together? IS that a VST effect? What software did u use? I have tried Audacity - SUCKS, Mix Pad - SUCKS......Sony - SUCKS! lol

  • @LegendaryCloud89 lol, ur right tho.

  • @Erilis666 Thank you...some constructive criticism, but I have an exceptional ear I guess sothat's why I can tell the difference...

  • @LegendaryCloud89 Wow! A little humility would go a long way, I think. I think this is very good work in spite of the little flaws.

  • @TheFaithfulsongbird On the contrary, although my comment may have been double edged, it was meant as a compliment. I agree that this is a very good work that many in the multitracking world can take note of. I believe a new trend may be started here...

  • @Erilis666 Thank you...some constructive criticism, but I have an exceptional ear I guess so that's why I can tell the difference...

  • I'm always saying music is my religion, and I am just falling in love with what technology can be used to do such cool things!! What you do is just amazing. And the fact that you're willing to share for free is so beautiful. Thank you for being part of the human race.

  • this deserves 100000000000 views. awesome.

  • Just wondering have you heard the track 'Hodja' by Todd Rundgren, it's off his C.D. titled 'Acapella'. It's a bit of fun, nothing as complex as what you've done here, but you could really pull it off ! The C.D. is fab incidently, have a listen !

  • What's your vocal range Jays, you must span 4 octaves at least, it certainly looks like it in the clip. Have you had singing lessons or is it naturally you.........you lucky thing x

  • @Jastro88 None of that matters. He crossed the line that I should be ashamed of myself for not giving credit for Sondheim, as if he would have ever seen this video, give me a break. He's had enough recognition already. I worked on this video for about 32 hours, and I have no idea how long it took Jeremiah to compose it. Probably longer. I only bothered to respond to that guy because his unspoken pretentious were offensively incorrect.

  • @Barbershop666 Fair enough. Sondheim is adored by many; there is no harm in spreading the wealth, as they say. It is certainly a nice arrangement. Musical Theatre and barbershop / a Capella are different arenas. In my personal opinion, Sondheim has written and arranged some lovely pieces that would rival anything in barbershop that I've heard. But again, the two are different art forms, and it's difficult to compare them fairly. Like... Vocal Spectrum vs Louis Armstrong? I dunno. Both good.

  • @Jastro88 Good argument, but they become comparible when you look at them like this:

I would get sick of Louis Armstrong much sooner than I would get sick of Vocal Spectrum.

  • @Barbershop666 Yes. I understand. We are all affected by different music in different ways. And I'm sure many of our fellow barbershoppers would agree with you. For me... that might not be true. But we are all different in our tastes and that is not a bad thing.

At any rate, I enjoy your videos, and I hope to meet you in person and share some tags/songs at some point. I sing with the Toronto Northern Lights... we'll be there in KC this summer. Maybe we'll see you there.

  • @Barbershop666 It is, quite simply, poor form not to accredit the author of the work.. Rather than being offended, simply correct your error of omission. That would be a good demonstration of maturity. Stop defending your faux pas.

  • Why is Stephen Sondheim not credited anywhere on this page? He is the writer of this song. Not Jeremiah Pope. Not Jayson Wilson. But Stephen Sondheim. Not Danny Elfman or Eric Whitacre. But Stephen Sondheim. You should be ashamed that you have not credited him. It is plagiarism of the worse kind.

  • @91dylpickle Stephen Sondheim is the writer of the general melody. Jeremiah pope grabbed it, reshaped it, and gave it a harmonial structure Sondheim could never dream of conceiving. YOU should be ashamed for tree hugging your love for musical theatre, and getting hung up on me not caring enough to give credit to someone who's already famous, and contributed the least to the making of this video.

  • @Barbershop666 wrote "Stephen Sondheim is the writer of the general melody. Jeremiah pope grabbed it, reshaped it, and gave it a harmonial structure Sondheim could never dream of conceiving."

Quite possibly the 'idiotic quote of the year' winner. We'll attribute it to immaturity and hopefully he will grow out of his ego.

  • @sixfourwm Its not ego when you're acrediting someone else. You clearly lack the understanding of the limitations of being a specialist in a particular avenue of music. Study that, and then Sondheim's aclectic limitations will become apparent to you.

  • @Barbershop666 1) That you claim to know I clearly lack understanding in any area demonstrates ignorance, inflated ego, immaturity and/or stupidity. 2) Being a specialist in one area does not preclude one from being proficient in other areas. 3) That you claim to know the limitations of Sondheim's understanding and creativity demonstrates colossal arrogance on your part. Unless of course you are his equal in this area and know him intimately. Show us again how big your ego really is.

  • @sixfourwm Oh heck, can't you just get down off your high horse and appreciate what this genius of a singer has produced here, he has taken a score and used his talent and creativity to produce a truly impressive piece of work, that just shines through anything else I've heard in years. Just quit the pettiness of your comments and sit back and revel in this masterpiece.

  • @02Jonah He never will. He's convinced he knows the musical universe more than I, and his pride will not allow any realizations that counter that conviction to exist. Its the worst sort of intelligence. You must remain humble, or else all sorts of nasty things will sneak into your way of thinking. This person is one of the more extreme examples of it.

I trained classically for about 4 years. On any given day I have anywhere from 4 - 4.7 octaves.

  • @Barbershop666 A lot of it is down to jealousy, and inadequacy and i think we have a prime example here of someone who just quite can't adjust to the fact you're out there and doing this and receiving the attention it so rightly deserves. The 4 years has paid off prime time, your voice is a credit to you and I'm in awe. Keep this up Jays, I long to hear the next blockbuster. Kind regards x

  • @sixfourwm 1) Its not about the claim. Its very simple, your words reveal your character. All you have to do is climb up the logic tree and you'll find the source. You're doing the same thing by claiming what I said before was spawned from ignorance and inflated ego, your thought process is just ruled by your emotions, and thats why you're incorrect. 2) It doesn't always, but it definitely CAN. Our brains zone in. 3) You can learn a lot about a composer from studying his work. Try it.

  • How do you not have 1Mil views on each of these? I think this stuff is awesome.

Some more upbeat/popular music would probably attract more viewers though.

  • this is insane, great arrangement, any chance of grabbing a copy of the music for me and my mates to sing :P?

  • I have listened to this at least 10 times since I stumbled upon it...and sent it to my friends...I'm a bit obsessed. Completely beautiful.

  • It's obvious you've made significant vocal progress, however; I hope you will remove some of your previous videos, as they may lead younger singers to unnecessarily damage their voices in attempts to imitate you.

  • there's no words...This arrangement is incredible...

  • @altismira (those are words your typing. ;)

  • I first heard when you first posted this video.... simply beautiful & very inspirational. Came back tonight "New Years Eve", as what better way to end the year and start 2011 ~ you are awesome!

  • this is amazing. very much appreciated!

  • Could someone please explain which frames are which parts? I've been trying to figure it out, but can't quite get it. :/

  • Thanks for the download, Jayson Wilson!

  • this just sent a shiver down my spine at 4:29 :O that chord is SOOOO worht listenin to over and over again

  • this just sent a shiver down my spine at 4:35 :O that chord is SOOOO worht listenin to over and over again

  • ish my chorus cud learn this its so awsome but it is deffinately difficult and done so well

  • itchy nose there

  • you know its really not fair, how good at this you are.

  • Is it weird that I fall asleep to this now? No lie. It is incredibly well done.

  • @RabeDesGottes He knew that XD

  • @RabeDesGottes I have done this. Multiple times.

  • where did you get this arrangement? ive been looking and couldnt find anything...
