Personally I find Bartoli's voice kinda irritating! She hasn't got a crystal-clear voice and you can hear her breath almost every time! It distracts me from Mozart's music! This is just my opinion..
"Un momento di contento" instead of the more usual "Venite, inginochhiatevi." It's from the revival with Adriana Ferrarese del Bene as Susanna, and she didn't like Nancy Storace's arias and demanded new ones. Later, in act IV, Cecilia sings "Al desio di chi t'adora" instead of "Deh vieni, non tardar". This is one of the few productions that uses those arias.
I've met Von Stade. A very classy lady. I doubt very much that she would be thrilled with your comment. Don't go around using her name to put down another singer.
For the record, this very same production (by Jonathan Miller) was first unveiled in Vienna's Theater an der Wien in May of 1991 with this splendid cast. It was released on video by SONY and is now long overdue for rerelease on DVD.
I^m looking at this for the 100th tie. Thank you so much for posting this. Renee is absolutely wonderful and so amusing and aristocratic. Where did you get it? Pray, please tell! For ever grateful for suc kindness and generosity.
Mentzer is one of the best, surely, but to my taste, the "dreamcast" would include von Stade in the role of Cherubino.

How I LOVE his little tune at 0.30 - 0.41!!!! So beautifully sung, so cheeky and confident. Makes me smile every time.

@galeriemuseumdouglas It isn't commercially available. Someone in the cast keeps blocking its release.

But...er...could someone tell me what is Susanna singing? I have watched several "Figaro" versions but I hear this aria for the first time.

it is not realised that this aria, is not as easy to perform 'greatly'by any means. Having said that, Mentzer leaves a bit to be desired here,!
