Mudslides can happen, as a consequence of torrential rains and floods, as well as severe droughts in the Northeast, but such things can happen anywhere in the world. Otherwise, there are no hurricanes, no volcanoes and the country is remarkably free of natural disasters, especially considering its sheer size and diversity of landscapes, terrains and climates.

Geography is required here. Everywhere in the US. And most colleges require for high school students to take language courses to get into a college.
