I'd suggest the c02 method it's quick and painless. Dry ice is very cheap and you wouldn't need much at all. A bucket is fine just place the rat in there with a cup to contain the dry ice and add water to make it release the c02 quicker. I'm sorry for your loss, I am a fellow rat lover and had to put down one of my beloved females due to a tumor as well, it really is hard but in the long run it's better for them not to have to suffer~
@vipper69 I am going to call the spca first and see if they will put her down for me for free. If not I may have to resort to that though I don't know if I have the heart to do that to my girl. I've raised her from about ten weeks. Thanks for the option though I don't want her to suffer at all.
