its not very high percentage.... unless youre real good at it. a decent wrestler will sprawl out both hips, and boom dude who shot for the takedown is flat on his back with a sprawled opponent on top of him
nice vids keep it up. i know you're doing mma but they still help me for wrestling. if i needed to pin a guy at 1:24 how could i be sure to do that? i know you need to keep as much weight as possible on his chest but is there anything else you can do to ensure the pin?
@nickaplease1 Your arm isn't in danger because the bend of the arm is facing down toward his hips. In other words, your thumb is down so your elbow isn't in danger of being hyperextended. If it was your other arm, then absolutely!
Thanks for watching and please be sure to check out the site!
@TechniquePrevails thats what everyone always forgets in the armbar! thumb up! so many people who are way better and more experienced than me (not exactly a hard thing to achieve lol) get an armbar then try to finish it and my thumbs down!
i like this one. Sometimes i do it in sparring when a guy misses a kick and is standing really side on. I just dive round the back and roll, easy!! Good video thank you. And all you guys making comments about wrestling get over it, this is not for wrestling.
Yeah, it used to happen a LOT to me to the point where I learned nothing but guillotine escapes and counters. When doing a single leg, you can either (a) swing your back leg to the outside to grab the closest leg WHILE keeping the head inside or (b) Shoot to his close leg with your lead leg WHILE keeping the head in. (a) and (b) depends on their stance, it works effectively. The takedown with the head inside is almost impossible for them to get a guillotine. Hope this helped!
If you're getting caught in a guillotine on the single, your head positioning is wrong. On a double leg, your head goes to the outside because you're either trying to drive through your oponent's hips and lift him, or turn the corner (leaving you vulnerable to the guillotine). On a single, your head should be on the inside, facing his far leg, ear against his chest right below the near shoulder, so you can push him over his hips and snatch the leg up off the mat.
@jeremyemilio Yes and no... If your head is to the inside on the single you're open to the darce and (more importantly) to knees (see Uriah Faber's jumping knees, as well as Kendall Grove). If your head is directly on the person's body then you're open to the 10 finger guillotine (see Marcelo Garcia).
There's a counter to everything- the goal is just to stay one step ahead.
Thanks for watching and contributing. Please check out the site!
Oops... also thought I should note that in my response to Virje94, I wasn't being critical of your technique in this video. It's just that the shot you're doing in this video is more what I'd call a high crotch than a single leg. As you know, different people just use different terms, and it can be even more confusing across disciplines (I do some jiu jitsu and some judo, but I started from a wrestling background). No beef with the technique in any of your vids. Great stuff.
@jeremyemilio No offense taken at all man. Just multiple ways of accomplishing the same thing. And yeah- if you come from a wrestling background, you've probably heard the technique which leads into the barrell roll called a high-crotch.
Anyways, please check out the site, and I'm glad you're enjoying the vids.
@Virje94 Keep your head on the inside of the thigh or your ear against theirs stomach...or if you keep your head out make sure you control their legs all the way through so they can lock the choke...i like Bas Ruetten's approach to stopping the guillotine.
@Virje94 keep yur chest UP and put the yur head either in his chest and stick the top of yur head in his armpit. wen yu do that, he cant wrap around yur neck thusly theres no guillotine
@Virje94 the "single leg" in the video is actually a high crotch with the head on the outside. if you sweep and keep your head on the inside it shouldn't happen
@LedZoSoZep Agreed. However for MMA I actually shoot the outside single as more of an ankle pick. I'll do a video of it for a TOTW and show the difference of what I'm talking about.
@Virje94 I have found if you continue your shot to the ground and angle off, putting your free arm over your opponent's shoulder, you will alleviate most of the torque. Furthermore, I like to, once I have become comfortable, take my opponents wrist of the arm around my head, and hold it as I lift my head to get a sort of floating kimura.
@Virje94 Always put your head on the inside of your opponents body for a single leg and keep your head up hes only got his head on the outside because of this special varriation case
this will never work in wrestling unless your opponent isn't smart and doesn't know what he's doing! Worst thing is that he goes straight to his back and thats a pin !
Not just to Komunation10 but to everyone: "My videos, my channel, and my website have absolutely nothing to do with wrestling. It is entirely based on MMA and doesn't attempt nor desire to deal in wrestling in any way." Thanks.
@Komunation10 i like this one. Sometimes i do it in sparring when a guy misses a kick and is standing really side on. I just dive round the back and roll, easy!! Good video thank you. And all you guys making comments about wrestling get over it, this is not for wrestling.
@foobyfilms If you had a strong grip on the single, they might not have the option of posting both legs back... It's just another possibility. If it doesn't come up, then you won't need it. Just one more tool for the arsenal. Thanks for watching, and check out the site.
i dont think that your gonna be able to do this on a good wrestler. if you shoot in than they are going to turn and square up with you, if you are that fast or they are that bad than you would be better off just circling behind them. this is a good way to get pancaked
yeah if someone shoots in on a high crotch single leg a good wrestler will turn the other direction and leg whizzer. either way ill probably try this out in practice
For all those Nay-Sayers out there that dont think moves like this are viable, I am willing to bet that you have been on the mat for less than 3 years. Once you have strength, agility, and stamina all as maxed out as you can, building a technical repertoire becomes the sport. Love it guys..just love it
seriously, i just this year joined my highschools team, and a spladle won me my 1st place leauge match. but i have to admit i have trined in mma for a few years, but those types of moves are very possible, even against fairly good wrestlers
On several occasions. There are many ways to set this up, and many variables to use in the mean time. Per your first "protest"- keep in mind that not everyone is going to react exactly the way you (or other wrestlers) will. Not every variation of every technique can be filmed. Thanks again, but I have no time to try to sell you on this technique. If you don't like it, don't use it- if you don't like any of them, find another set of videos. If you have a better way, please post your videos.
2.When a person is sprawling, a good sprawl will have their weight going to the mat, unless you have freak strength to pull him back this wont work.
3.The best thing to do would be to pivot on your knee when you feel his pressure, this way when his weight is going down to the mat you go behind him and best scenario you get to backmount.
4.This is a cool move to show but not a move that you should do in a match.
Thanks for your interest. I respectfully disagree with you on your assumptions, but I really do appreciate your willingness to participate. At any rate, check out the site.
