  • Sad, Most burmese assimilate into american culture too much. They totally lose their language abilties and fail to pass down to their next generation.

  • This series is awesome who better to learn from than our elders. I would like to see one video on traditional Native American foods we have wonderful culinary traditions as well. But I do adore cooking Asian foods.

  • Alvina reminds me of my memere. She wasn't at all of asian descent, but she had the same style. Thanks for sharing!

  • im burmese and i think you should talk in burmese

  • I loved your grandma!!!! She is so nice!!! And I'm sure the food must taste like King's food! I will try it! Thumbs up!

  • I miss my grandma. She was the best cook, and I used to watch mine all the time. Replicating their recipes on the spot can be a challenge in itself. Your grandma seems like a sweet old lady:) and the food looks delicious.

  • OMG. She sounds almost exactly like my grandma...and kinda looks like her too...but she's Nepalese.

  • Do you guys know the song in the background?

  • The background song is probably a song sung by Winn Oo, a popular 1960s Burmese singer who was the Elvis of Burmese music back then.

More recipes from Grandma Alvina please! She's so cute! Yum. Shrimp curry is one of my favorite dishes!

Please add the list of ingredients and measurements as well!!! It's hard to follow when the measurements aren't indicated.

  • This is so sweet.

  • aww =)

  • haha i thought a glass of water is one of the ingredients but its for grandma! hahaha

  • Good call, CrescentPurpleMoon. We've added links to the recipes in the Info. Enjoy!

  • I meant to say the "video is not very good" in terms of the instructional quality...not the "food". Oops!

  • The food looks delicious, and I love the interaction between the grandmother and her granddaughter. However, in terms of this being instructional in any way, I have to say this food is not very good. I'd like to try the recipe, but from this video I wouldn't even know where to start...

  • Looks good. I want curry now...
