(1)Yep. I'm from Louisiana, further south, and it's amazing how segregated many small towns like this one and mine are celebrated. However, I believe that there are many people in my town who don't see color, and many who do. I'm glad that this is being exposed.
(2)There is an older generation of white people who have still been taught and brainwashed by their old-fashioned, coon-ass parents that it is okay to hate for no reason. There are, however, many white people who are not racist, and are happy to love his neighbor as his brother, no matter what the color. . .or so he thinks. If a white man who says he does not hate does not speak up for his fellow man, can this type of shameful behavior ever end?

What is sad is people think this is some isolated incident, no! (1)Yep. I'm from Louisiana, further south, and it's amazing how segregated many small towns like this one and mine are celebrated. However, I believe that there are many people in my town who don't see color, and many who do. I'm glad that this is being exposed.

There are, however, many white people who are not racist, and are happy to love his neighbor as his brother, no matter what the color. . .or so he thinks. that's respectable. i personally feel like a lot of the white people that you speak of, nonetheless, refuse to believe that racism exists. it does. people of color are not treated fairly or at least similarly to white people in our justice system or in any other place in society. it's not a white person's fault; it's just the way it is. it is something in our culture and our minds. i wish good willed white people in denial could open their eyes for a moment.

There is no "white's only" tree. They are on trial for beating a kid unconscious (he happened to be white), not for sitting under a tree. It was a stupid prank by some white kids to hang a noose in the tree, but even more stupid for the other kids to gang-beat him to the point of being unconscious. You'll get the liberal slant only...because "PC" sells. Meantime, we're getting ready to welcome the Reverends Al and Jesse to Louisiana just anyday now.

They would know the history of my people in this country concerning racist attacks (see "100 Years of Lynching" by Ralph Ginzburg).

Because in this warped community there was in fact a "whites only" tree it may not have been written but the sign was hung with those nooses... This and other racial predjuices and crimes should be considered before sentencing these boys. It would be wrong to do otherwise.
