as cool as it may be i find it to be a waste of resources and probably tax dollars if you know anything bout fighting fires you would know its a quick operation theres no time to play with a little snake thing and try to get it to move forward just make a remote control car that does the job.

So, for this firefighting robot to be of use, the firecrews will have to carry this thing into a burning building and pretty much set it on top of the fire, because it really cannot get there on its own...then let it wiggle around, trying to put a fire out using the equivalent of a Super Soaker to put the fire out?...instead, just call it a wiggling snake that squirts water.

It doesn't move forward because it has no traction. You notice the bare metal on smooth wood? This could easily be fixed by putting some kind of high-friction skin on it, like sand embedded in rubber (or some other, more fire resistant material. Whatever.).

Since, so far, they haven't got it to move without being plugged into the power supply or controlling computer or whatever that is, I'm guessing they don't want it getting too far away.

love internet idiots, can't seem to understand that getting the concept to work is more important than the size of the stream. power of the stream is just a simple matter of increasing pressure and increasing water flow. the real challenge is getting the robot to do what its intended to do. (i.e. see fire, activate extinguishing capabilities)
