For a "Crashavant" or a "Brunzema" or "Brunnhilda" (or whatever it may be)- I'll say this- it's got a LOAD of STOOCH! That nearly embedded me into the wall listening to it from my laptop speakers... I'd only imagine how solid it'd be in person, or "in situ". I'd hope the walls would be padded lol...
I don't know if it's the microphone or not, but try pushing a few of those high stops back in. It is quite a bright registration. Other than that, a phenomenal performance.
Usually, when the reeds are added to the foundations of any given division, any and all upperwork is supposed to be included. That said, it's important to remember how relatively puny that upperwork would be on a Cavaillé-Coll (or other - e.g., Merklin) of that time; consequently, one could have wished to be a bit more choosy on this instrument. Nonetheless, not bad at all (to say the least!).
WOW! Okay, a few minor corrections/suggestions. I feel the organ is a little too harsh when used with the pedal... try cancelling out a few of your reed stops and play around with it a little bit. I mean, each organist has a different ear and I myself do like a "harsher, more reedy" sounding organ from time to time. For this particular piece, however, try the organ without as many reed stops... let me know what you think once you've tried it ;)
una buona interpretazione... anche se forse andrebbe suonato un po' piu' mosso, e bisogna notare degli errori nella seconda parte del gran forte.... comunque bravo! where is situated the organ? I'm the organist of the cathedral of udine (italy)
Wonderful, soulfull playing. Who are you? Who tought you to play? You give the music time to live, time between phases to reverberate, I love your playing!
Very nice. What edition of the music are you using? I just started this piece as a senior in high school. Also, there are no registrations on my edition; it just gives FFF for the loud parts and PP for the soft parts on the Recit.
Hey, Usually they have the registration listings on the fist page of the Piece. However, if you look at my comment below, i gave a full listing of the stops Boellman chose origionally.
The suggested stops for this piece are the Foundation Stops, and the 16, 8, and 4 foot Reeds, all of which are supposed to be set for all the keyboards. I used all of the above, and the Bombarde 32, 16, 8, 4 on all keyboards, and the Diapasons 32, 16, 8, 4 on all keyboards. Essentially i couldve just pushed the SFZ piston, and saved alot of "programming" work....
Wow you are awesome, I'm just 22 and (studying organ along the side) and your playing makes me want to aspire to be a better organist. Keep up the good work.
HOLY CRAP!!! Ok, i decided to comment on this video of yours because, well this is my favorite piece. You are one of the better organists ive heard ever! And from one organist to another, youre pretty damn good. I have two qeustions for you though, a) how old are you, and b) how long did it take you to memorize all of these songs, cuz they are not easy! PLEASE RESPOND!!!! YOU ARE AWESOME
Good job love your playing keep up the good work. Put more about yourself on your site. Like how long have you been playing, what colleges you are going to etc. I'm sure there are alot of people out there that would love to know more about you. And please record more songs for us.
I took 3 years of lessons a few years back then kinda left it, and just recently came back to it. I havent studied at college yet but will be strating my degree in organ performance this coming fall...pending a good audition haha
The pedals on the organ are primarily used for bass. Originally, before the pedals were implemented into a full organ, one man had the idea to create little sticks of wood (pedals) which were tied to a string, which would pull down a note on the lower keys of the keyboard. Fast forward some years, and the idea of the pedals has grown and developed into a full flight with several stops and couplers.
Good tempo and registration, especially on the swell.

A very musical interpretation, if the registration is a little bright.
Boëlmann says "Fonds et anches sur tous les claviers". Why then add the mixtures?
Love your precise pedal playing with good anticipation of the next note.
Isn't the organ bench a little too high?

Great performance. Inspired my interest in Boellmann, although I might have a bit of trouble getting my hands round the Toccata on your other video.
Congrats on getting CMU - I think your memorization skills would certainly greatly impressed the judges.

What organ are you playing that has a 32' Principal on the manuals, as well as a 32' Contre Bombarde on the manuals?
GrandeChoeur 4 years ago
Well I woulda, but the en chamade comes on on every manual when you do that haha, so that woulda killed the effect I think.
