@chainsawelliott44 the hidden blade originally required you to lose your ring finger for you to be able to use it. This showed your dedication to the assassins. Ezio got modified blades from leonardo in AC2

In Altair's time, the use of a Hidden Blade required that one removes their ring finger. When Altair became Grand Master, he modified it so it no longer required a lost finger, since it made the Assassins stand out.

answer: he got easier life.. staying with the protection of the assassins just ordering them around. altair lived mostly in wilderness in that 20 years.. that makes people old much quicker. haha

@MangosiLuv yes you are right but that is altair not ezio back then in the time of altair they had to have there ring finger cut off leading to all the missing ring fingers in this cutscene.
