Board members given free life time first class travel for themselves and their families when BA cabin crew awaiting a 50% pay cut are expected to look after them. Hedging on the cost of fuel and getting it disastrously wrong costing the company millions again. BA, our flag ship airline was the UKs most profitable and respected until he came along. These are just some of the mitakes that have cost this countries leading airline its status and position in the world of aviation.

Hundreds of millions lost in fines due to illegal dealings. Thousands of "lost" luggage sent to Europe to be burned only for the Italians to send them back because they didnt want to handle them. Burnt in the uk with the ok of insurers. So many bags there werent enough staff at BA to handle them.

What he doesn't mention is for long-haul international flights, you get herded onto lousy busses to get to the plane. Then you have to climb steps in all kinds of weather to get onto the plane. What kind of backward, third-world facility is this?! Gatwick was infinitely better; air-bridges from terminal to plane. Move the flights back to Gatwick :)

While at Aer Lingus he tuned a loss making, money-hemorrhaging airline into a profit making enterprise. Staff hated him because they were too accustomed to the good life and he thought things should be otherwise. Had it not been for him Aer Lingus would be a fading memory now.

Thats a fair point too. Willies mandate from the Government was to get the airline in a position whereby they could sell it off, or a least a great portion of it. At the time Aer Lingus had way too many employees trying to make a living off to few aircraft, so he slim lined the operations and a lot of waste was eliminated. For the first time in its history Aer Lingus actually made money. He gave Aer Lingus a shot at a future.
